I do not get it. Meditation is about breathing and clearing your mind and it really makes you feel so much better. There is nothing evil about it at all so why do some religious people find it evil?

Yes, its totally normal. Sometimes starting by having something to focus on like an object or candle flame can help. As thoughts arise don't get caught up in thinking you are doing it wrong or judging yourself for having them. Just dismiss them and bring your attention back to breathing or the object. I started meditating a long time ago using an Insight guided meditation dvd. It helped me get started. Today I would find that more distracting then helpful but I think different things work for different people at different stages so its something you might consider. It may feel frustrating at first but I think its something that really reenergizes, grounds, and refreshes me now and helps me keep peace and perspective. Best wishes.

You are correct, and in fact praying, working and even just walking can be forms of meditation, so there is no reason for religious people to be against it. But I think it is because most people associate it with Buddhism or Hinduism, which is a shame, it could help alot of people.

They don't understand it. They are full of tired worn out beliefs and few know the truth. Meditation if done right will wake up the person to the nature or reality. They would know God instead of "believe" what there told.

I don't think it is evil but it could be dangerous to empty your mind. The demons could find a dwelling place while you were relaxing. Be careful.

They think it leaves you vulnerable to demon possession and/or attacks by satan.

For me, it pretty much just relieves stress and helps me think more clearly.

Go figure.

It all depends on what you are meditating on. When you clear your mind and remove everything including God that gives Satan the opportunity to enter.
