Was Kansas right?

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

(That's one depressing song right there!)

Have you ever read the Book of Ecclesiates in the Bible? It was written by Solomon, renowned for wisdom, and blessed with every blessing a man could hope for in his day, and when he carefully examined everything there was to know or experience "Under the sun", he came to the conclusion that the whole of it was vanity, or to state it better, futility. Did you ever consider, that if this life is all there is, that at the end of life the one who has the most is the one who loses the most, and the one whose life has been most miserable is the one who gains the most !
If there is nothing further, this life is the cruelest of all jokes, and every precious memory will vanish like the morning mist.
In the 8th chapter of Paul's Letter to the Romans, this very issue is addressed, but from a new angle, the blessed hope introduced by the Gospel, and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead:
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the One who subjected it, in a hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay, and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God." (Romans 8:18-21)
I thank God that when my life seemed most hopeless and meaningless, He revealed Himself to me as the One who died for my sins and rose again from the dead, proving not only His personal love for me, but also the assurance that there is a better Age coming.

Why? If you have lived your life to the fullest and are happy with your accomplishments, the difference that you have made and the love that you have received and given, what difference does it make? You've lived a full life, now let it go. Death is the final stage of growth.

How sad that my answer elicited a thumbs-down. Pathetic.

Yes .very true. One moment you are gone forever. But religions teach the falsehood saying " you are immortal, you have eternal life and for others there is after life or punarjanma". Man wants to live forever for this he has invented all these theories. As the other living beings die and go we too will be gone for ever.

If it gets to you so much, turn your radio off for a while. Actually, that song is kind of reminiscent of the Book of Ecclesiastes, isn't it?

Don't say "Kansas"... someone had to invent a whole new religion because of them (FSM PBUH)... and it's not depressing to be dust in the wind... it's ok. I look forward to my cremated remains drifting....

a requiem was never sung, no elegy was read
no monument was carved in stone, in memory of the dead
for those who made this place do not remain, they feel no pain
a stranger fate was never known...
