ATKINS IS NOT A FAD DIET. IT IS A WAY OF LIFE!!
DR ATKINS DID NOT DIE FROM HIS DIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The person who said their friend was bleeding internally, it was not from the diet. She obviously had something wrong with her! If her hair was falling out it was because she was't getting the vitamins she needed. Dr Atkins recomends taking at least a multi vitamin everyday.

For a 14 year old I would not recomend a strict Atkins diet. You need to talk with your parents. There is a book on low carb for kids (I know, I know you're not a kid) that helps prevent seizures and is good for kids and teens with diabetes, but you aren't an adult and I don't think strict Atkins is for you.
Low carb diets are actually recomended by doctors for people that have had heart attacks. Fats are good for you . Its TRANS FATS you need to stay away from.
The person that said you aren't allowed to eat cheese during Induction was wrong. You can have up to 3 oz a day.

People that have never read Dr Atkins books are very misinformed about this way of life. They believe rumors that they hear form othe misinformed people.

you and you mom should check out lowcarbfriends.com for low carb support.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

I would not suggest the atkins, although it does work great for most men. As far as food for the atkins, you can pretty much have all the meat and eggs you want. It says cheese as well but your really not supposed to eat it for the first 2 weeks of the diet. I would suggest buying the Dr. Atkins book or searching the net if you are really consider trying this diet. If I were you I would most likely stick to a diet that is for someone who has diabetes.

Since you are only 14 years old I would not recommend the Atkins diet. You need a diet plan that will help you maintain your weight once you have lost it. I would join weight watchers if I were you. You will get plenty of support as you lose weight and plenty of support keeping it off later. The food is great, you get plenty to eat and won't get hungry. Try it! Good luck!

atkins diet is NOT good for your health! A realy good book on losing weight the healthy way is http://www.amazon.com/You-Owners-Manual-Waist-Management/dp/0743292545. it is a New york best seller as well. This book is not for dieting, it teaches you how to live a healthyer lifestile. Diets are not a healthy way to lose weight and often don't keep the weight off.

I don't care what you hear about the atkins diet! It is not a safe way to lose weight and if you have had a minor heart attack you need to watch your health carefully! http://www.drmcdougall.com/res_new_atkins.html

For now you need to make sure you eat healthy (=

Eat lots of fruit (fruit has healthy sugar) and vegetables, eat grain foods like bread, pasta, cereal etc make sure its whole grain only. Cut back on meat and at maximum only eat it in one meal per day (don't worry you will get enough protein, vegetables, grains, nuts, beans have more than enough! the human body only needs about 5% protein even less is ok) the average american eats 2 to 5 times the amount of protein needed. Too much protein is not good for your body (its hard on your liver and kidneys) and can cause many other health problems the list goes on.... Eat lower fat dairy foods as well. Don't forget that even when losing weight you still need some amount of healthy fat. Some great sources are raw nuts, ground seseme seeds, olive oil, ground flax seed, avocado. These kinds of fat are good for your body. As much as you can keep away from sugar.

Doing at least 30min of exercise a day would be a good start as well. Look out for yourself and do as much research as you can, you can do this! (=

Atkins is not the answer. Please avoid these fad diets. Start eatting right for life. Make life changes and start working out regularly this is the ONLY way to lose weight and keep it off. People who diet are more likely to put the weight back on and weigh more in the future and be more likely to suffer from heart disease later in life. Consult your doctor and talk about health eatting and working out.

It's easy for people to say things like "just start eating healthy."
You need a structured plan to change your way of thinking, and eating, forever.
Try The Logic Diet.
This simple plan converts your mind into that of a thin person forever and the body follows.
There is no exercise required to see the results, and you get to eat lots of food at first, while still losing weight, so you don't go crazy with hunger and therefore quit on the plan before it works.
Learn about it at:
www.thelogicdiet.com

I truly believe this plan can help you change your life forever!

Personally, I had a friend whose hair fell out from the atkin's diet and she started to bleed internally, too. Also, doctor atkin's, that created that diet, died from his own diet. So, I would recommend it.
