Hi - can anyone tell me of i cut a uk plug from an appliance can i simply put on an australian plug? i think uk is 230v and oz 240v..if so are the coloured wires the same - i prefer to do this than use a travel adaptor, thank you in advance.

i should say that tis is a washng machine and i have moved here permantly so i not mind switching plugs permantley, travel adaptors are a pain as dont fit that well and protrude from wall and have limited space, so really need to change plugs.

If you are thinking of doing this before you leave the UK, I hope you can get a supply of Oz plugs. That should be the next question, perhaps?

get the travel adaptor because you will have the same problem when you get home it will only cost you a few quid but how much will it cost to replace the item if it fcuks up
