If I remember corecctly it was called a few things. Trenches, Ditches, Bunkers, or Pill Boxes.. Sometimes defending on if your talking about one or two person dugouts then they can be called foxholes, but those aren't used as protection, but to hide from someone. Not to block blasting shells and so forth..
But I could be wrong...

The army calls them Foxholes, the marine corp calls them fighting holes, though they are the same thing.
