No, you can not. Tuition for private schools is never deductible.

If a part of the service provided was for daycare, either before the beginning of the school day or after the end of the school day, AND the cost of the daycare component was stated separately, AND if you needed the daycare in order to work or look for a job, that portion could be used to claim the Dependent Care Credit.

If the daycare component isn't priced separately, you cannot use any of the cost for the Dependent Care Credit.

If the child is in K-12, those tuition expenses can't be claimed, are not deductible. If any expenses qualify for a child care credit, that goes to the custodial parent, not the non-custodial parent claiming her. If she's pre-kindergarten and those expenses are so you can work, or under 13 and some of them are for before or after school care, again so you can work, they would probably qualify for the credit. You'd show her on your return as a non-dependent who is your child who lives with you, and claim the dependent care credit for her.

If it was tuition, no. If it was part tuition and part day-care, you can count only the day-care portion, if the amounts were listed separately on your receipts or statement you got from the preschool.

Furthermore, this has to have been day-care that allowed you (and your husband if filing a joint tax return) to work during the day.

childcare expenses are deductible if they enabled you to work or look for work. these expenses are reported on Form 2441. you can claim a maximum of $3,000 in expenses per child. the maximum childcare credit you would get is $600.

you would need to provide the name, address and FEIN# of the childcare provider.
