You should wear the dress that makes you happy and if you would like to wear red, I think you should. Besides shades of red compliment brown skin tones. But if you want to consider your mother's opinions, you can always look at white dresses with red accents or red dresses with accents of white so it's not a solid red dress.

There are lovely shades of beige and some types of dusty pinks available these days. This would be more "traditional" if that is truly what you desire. Who is paying for the wedding? I think that if it is a red dress that you want to wear, then wear a red dress!! This is your day, and you will bear the memories for the rest of your life.
Many folks dream of this day for their daughters from birth. They just need to know that you still love them, and that you would really like the red dress. Let them help you pick it out or help with the cake. Keep them included, but be firm with your "must-haves". Is it really the color that is the issue?
Congratulations and good luck!!

What about an ivory color with red trim and bead work. Adding color to your wedding dress is very in for the last year. Red is a very lovely color and traditional wedding color for Chinese, I wear my traditional Chinese red dress for my reception. Maybe you can mix it in too.

Any color you want . I know you want to satisfy them but come on its your wedding not theirs . Tell them you are going to get married and you don't need them to bicker about the color of a dress that will belong to you forever . Ask your future husband if he would mind if you marry him in a red dress . If your really concerned about what they think find a dress that is both red and white . GOOD LUCK SWEETIE I WILL PRAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY . Congratulations on your marriage !

It depends on the style of the dress, the shade of red, etc. How about making both of them happy by choosing a white dress with a wide, red ribbon around the waist? Or, how about a lipstick red bustier with a full, white ballerina skirt?

By your name I am assuming you r Hindu....
Try a pretty pale rose or other pastel shade.Remember during a wedding it is normal for the bride to wear different dresses during the occasion! Take studio portraits in your red dress...and for the live event wear what you like.

Since it is your wedding... I think you should follow your own "tradition". This is your wedding, and its supposed to be about you. If you want to wear a red gown, then do so. Its good you are taking into consideration, what your mom and grandma thinks! But if you want to be totally happy... YOU have to make your own decisions. Go to: www.davidsbridal.com they have very nice gowns, (even in red)! Congrats
Good Luck

Blue, silver, gold, green, or purple. I've seen wedding dresses in all these colors. True most of them were home/hand made dresses, but all were beautiful. The bride was happy, and I was happy for her.

you could go for a colour that is close to white - one you like of course, like pale yellow or cream... Then everyone might be happy.
Otherwise, if you really want to wear red, do it! It's your wedding. As long as everyone will still turn up, then do it!
Purple is also good - colour of Royalty! Pale purple looks nice...

I say it's your day......wear whatever you want to! However if you want other dress color ideas: off white, ivory, beige, Egg Shell, Creme or any other colors you choose.
Good luck and Congrats
