I know that they day my egg got fertilised was 26 jan. But the first day of my last period is like 12 days before that. That means i got pregnant before I even had intercourse!!! I think its crazy to calculate it that way. Why is it done?

Doctors calculate that way because most people do not know when they ovulate and have no clue as to when they conceived. This is why pregnancy is 40 weeks even though gestational age is between 36-38.

Rarely do we know when an egg is released or fertilized. Doctors calculate from the date of last menstrual period because most women know that date.

I think it is because they can't be sure the exact day and moment of conception so they add on 2 weeks and say it is 40 weeks even though it really is 38 weeks. So if you count forward 38 weeks from 26th Jan you will probably have your due date.

Its calculated from the day you ovulate. Even though the egg is not yet fertalized, it is still moving down to the Ueterus and is changing into what it needs to accept fertalization.

i've got faith its through fact extra women comprehend the date that they had their era than the date they ovulated. Even via ovulation it could take days for sperm to artwork their way up there and into the egg.

Mainly for consistency. Not everyone knows when she ovulated, but most women track their periods.
