My roof hangs over the house about 3 feet and there is a wire that runs underneath the roof. The wire is connected directly from the electric meter, which is located inside our house, to the utility pole that right next to my home. Everyday, several pigeons would hang around on the wire and make a huge and digusting mess right at my door steps. We had tried spraying water, throwing pebbles, and even shooting plastic BB pellets, but non of them worked. They would taunt us by coming back in few hours. The war games with the pigeons have been going on for more than a year. We checked the whole house and there are no nesting. Does anyone know of a safe and inexpensive solution to this problem?

I understand your frustration. I love pigeons and have bred them for many years, but wild ones can be a pain.

You might like to try this. Check your phone directory for a good kite store -- or even a catalog for a good kite store.

Specialty kite shops often have what I call "flapping wing bird" kites. Some of these are designed to look like hawks, gulls, etc. Get a couple of the hawk ones and post them onto stakes, etc., or from tree or post, etc., so that they can "fly"

They need to be able to "fly" intermittently, either in a natural breeze or perhaps in a fan. I've suggested this method to a few people in the past and it's seemed to have worked. The sudden flapping of a "predator" spooks the pigeons and if it happens often enough (without any sort of schedule that they can get used to), they usually decide the "fear" isn't worth it and go somewhere else.

Good luck -- and at some point when you see others suggesting this and charging for it down the road, remember I said it first :-)

there's a fine looking little product observed as "warm foot" it really is largely a pellet that appears like a gel notwithstanding it makes the pigeons mad by getting on their ft and heating them up. They get aggravated for an afternoon or 2, then pass on. they'd nicely be dumb, yet they comprehend the thanks to proceed to exist. the city of Chicago has been utilizing it for years to regulate pigeons and hawks interior the Loop. it really is totally helpful. it would cost $one hundred for a 4 %., yet evaluate that the first dose will chase them away and the others are in simple terms refresher classes for the subsequent year and also you may realize it really is a lot more affordable than the options. additionally they promote astounding disinfectants to freshen up the guano mess left in the back of by the birds.

Try hanging propeller shaped strips of aluminum foil from the wires. The constantly spinning and flashing shapes spook them off.

Rat poison mixed with bird seed works better than alka -seltzer....less messy and as they get sick they tend to fly off .....and they die somewhere else.

Bird fence on the roof and around the wire to prevent them from landing. See the "bird spike" wire ... it works.

I hate to say this but: Alka Seltzer...you crumble it up and let them feed on it. They can't burp and they will implode...FYI, I do not normally condone animal cruelty, so please only use this as a last resort....
