I have been taking Adderall XR 20 mg for 2 weeks and night before last my blood pressure went sky high and I had to go to the ER and they treated it as if I may be having a heart attack. I am 47 and have never had high blood pressure. Question is Could the Adderall XR cause this? I did not have a heart attack but was admited to the hospital and did a Stress test the next day and every thing was good. Please help! I feel I can't do without my Adderall!
Thanks in advance!

Here are some side effects of Adderall.

Cardiovascular: Palpitations, tachycardia, elevation of blood pressure, sudden death, myocardial infarction. There have been isolated reports of cardiomyopathy associated with chronic amphetamine use.

Central Nervous System: Psychotic episodes at recommended doses (rare), overstimulation, restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, euphoria, dyskinesia, dysphoria, depression, tremor, headache, exacerbation of motor and phonic tics and Tourettes syndrome, seizures, stroke.

Gastrointestinal: Dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation, other gastrointestinal disturbances. Anorexia and weight loss may occur as undesirable effects when amphetamines are used for other than the anorectic effect

I suggest you go back to your Doctor and discuss this blood pressure incident.
