When I was sexually abused, he was the first person that I ever felt like telling. That really made a huge impact on me.

Thats what happens when some Christians (not all but far too many) who come here to Yahoo Questions and Answers in the religious section.

You have people who mock, challenge and many of them demon driven without even knowing it.., all in effort to knock you off your feet with God. This is why the Bible says not to be unequally yoked among unbelievers. You end up feeling alone and lost. Things are hard enough at times as it is without the extra garbage screwing up your beliefs.

God is an awesome God. The most awesome thing i have witnessed was not the dead raised, nor a limb restored, nor the lame walking again or any of that (though I have witnessed some of these things) - but the birth of my baby daughter - AND THEN - after she was grown and married, witnessing the birth of my grandson. LIFE! The most beautiful thing ever of God's wonders. NEW LIFE!

Salvation is a rebirth - and every bit as beautiful and wondrous as the new birth of a baby. We often ignore or miss the most obvious things God has done, that God has designed. Its the simple things that are the greatest, the most majestic.

Actually let me tell you the stories of two of my friends that have been "blown away" by God.

The first...my friend wasn't a christian but was traveling with a Christian Group....they told her God would provide...She said ok, God I want a peanut butter sandwich....about that time they stopped to pick up a loaf of fresh bread that was in the middle of the road....Then she said, God I want peanutbutter. About that time they had to stop again. There was a new jar of peanutbutter out in the road.

A friend of mine is a tester at DMV and gives people their driving tests. She was in the vehicle with a man that didn't speak much English. They were coming up on railroad tracks with an oncoming train......The man wasn't stopping so she yelled, "In the name of Jesus stop!" The train stopped.

I was sitting in a Pastor's office complaining about my marriage. I wasn't a Christian then, but they offer free counseling.

After I went on for an hour about how rotten my husband was, the pastor said to me, "So now, tell me about the things you have done which are wrong."

I stared at him like some kind of dummy. Then the light broke over me like dawn. How in the world could I be so focused on someone else's flaws when I had enough of my own to keep me busy for a lifetime.

It was then when I realized I needed a savior, and I was so glad to know I had one available.

Don't give up, dear....there's no where else to go that's worthwhile.

When I was a young man, I lived a wild life, drinking, smoking partying, drugs. I remember once during a beer party in a cemetery on a dare I stood in front of the chapel with a beer in one hand and a cigaret in the other and dared God to strike me dead. I figured He never listened to anything I said up to that point, why should He start now? A short while after that I became totally disillusioned with my messed up life and told God to get out of my life. Again, I didn't think much of it when I said it, but afterwards I realized something happened - it was as if God turned His back on me, saying in effect, all right, I will let you see what life is like without Me. Immediately my whole world seemed to turn dark and gloomy. I literally lost the ability to laugh or smile, and I felt within my soul like I was falling into a bottomless pit. I searched for weeks and months to try to find a way out, but it was like quicksand. The more I struggled the faster I sank. I was picking my brain apart, looking for something, a memory, some truth, anything that would bring me out of my nose dive into hell. I was too macho to cry, but one day I couldn't handle it any more, came home, fell down on my face and started crying. Then something happened I didn't know was possible - a voice spoke into my heart these words: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins." Instantly I felt a tremendous change come over me, and the darkness and despair and meaninglessness of my life was driven out, like a light drives the darkness out of a room when someone turns on the switch. I felt like I had been lifted from the lowest pit to the highest mountaintop, and I knew, without doubt, that this Gospel story about God becoming a man and dying on a cross for my sins was true - and I knew He did it for me. I was filled with a sense of love and hope and acceptance and forgiveness, such as I had never known. In fact up that time I didn't believe love existed, I thought it was a fairy tale. I had never heard of anyone else having that kind of experience. Being raised Catholic they never talked about being born again or getting saved. It was a year later when I was reading in the Bible I discovered where Jesus talked about being born again in John Chapter 3, that I realized that's what happened to me. So I had the experience first, and the doctrine later.
Snce then I have learned to believe the Bible is the Word of God, and having found the teaching, I have come into many further experiences in the Word. I live in the peace of God today. I am free from fear and anxiety in my life. I sense the presence of the Lord in my life on a daily basis.I love Him with all my heart, because I know that when I hated Him, He loved me still.
Peace to you!

The Holy Spirit has touched me and confirmed my spirit that I am God's own. When you have that blessed experience the Peace of God goes all over you and there are no problems to big for you and God.

I was in a terrible situation and could not sleep one night and I got up and stood by my bed and Prayed "God you promised in your Holy Word that you would give us Peace and Joy that passes all understanding. I Pray that You give me that right now and it felt like He poured out warm oil on the top of my head and I felt it run down my body to my feet and the most sweet Peace came over me and I slept like a baby for a few hours and got up Praising God's Holy Name."

God has "blown me away" MANY times....this one particular time though was after one of those times....I had no doubts that God was present in my life but I STILL thought that I was in charge. My ex-boyfriend had given me an old car....VERY old and beat up and I had to drive it from where he was to where I was living--about 100 miles...anyway, it was raining and the car had no working wipers OR lights....so needless to say the trip back on the highway was frightening and dangerous....I had my infant daughter in a car seat in the back and was riding with a friend of mine....we got back safely to my house and when we arrived I said, "see what a great driver I am? I got us back here safe and sound" My friend said, "nope, God got us back here safe and sound"....and I said, "bullshit......I got us here because I am a great driver." The next morning I brought the car to a friend of mine who was a mechanic....I made it to the garage and RIGHT before I got to the driveway of the garage.....my brakes COMPLETELY gave out!!! I coasted right to the door of the garage. After that, I never again denied the presence of God's hand in my life.....and realized that I am not the Almighty...lol....AND my God has a sense of humor too!!!

If God didn't save my life so many times, more times than cat's have life's. My Five children would not be here today praising God.
About eight years ago, God's presence intervene to me on my job site during a meeting of about fifty. My Boss was giving a speech, he was very angry because he lost money due to all of us not reading the blue prints. I felt compassion in my heart for my Boss, I raised my hand in the moment of truth, and said," I was one of them". I felt God's presence fall down on me, in me, and around me.... happy and warm feeling, and felt what God said to me in my head, "I am happy with you". Even my Boss came over to shake my hand, and was pleased that I had the courage to be honest, especially knowing that most all were involved and no one else came forth, although when I raised my hand, in that moment of truth, I read the expressions on every ones faces, they were thinking, your crazy, your nuts, your going to get fired. The only ones that truly knew what was going on was me and God standing by my side:)

This is How Wakan Tanka made it REAL in my life!!!

Each morning upon rising, and each evening before sleeping, gives thanks for the life within you and for all life, for the good things the Creator has given you and for the opportunity to grow a little more each day. Consider your thoughts and actions of the past day and seek for the courage and strength to be a better person. Seek for the things that will benefit others (everyone).

2. Respect. Respect means "To feel or show honor or esteem for someone or something; to consider the well being of, or to treat someone or something with deference or courtesy". Showing respect is a basic law of life.

3. Once a council has decided something in unity, respect demands that no one speak secretly against what has been decided. If the council has made an error, that error will become apparent to everyone in its own time.

4. Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions.

5. Always treat your guests with honor and consideration. Give of your best food, your best blankets, the best part of your house, and your best service to your guests.

6. The hurt of one is the hurt of all; the honor of one is the honor of all.

7. Receive strangers and outsiders with a loving heart and as members of the human family.

8. All the races and tribes in the world are like the different colored flowers of one meadow. All are beautiful. As children of the Creator they must all be respected.

9. To serve others, to be of some use to family, community, nation, and the world is one of the main purposes for which human beings have been created. Do not fill yourself with your own affairs and forget you’re most important talks. True happiness comes only to those who dedicate their lives to the service of others.

10. Observe moderation and balance in all things.

11. Know those things that lead to your well-being and those things that lead to your destruction.

12. Listen to and follow the guidance given to your heart. Expect guidance to come in many forms; in prayer, in dreams, in times of quiet solitude, and in the words and deeds of wise Elders and friends.

Wahoo!!!!
