In the spices at the Super Market, they are expensive! You can use pure vanilla extract in it's place, 1 -1 1/2 tsp.

Penzeys Spices. They have a store in my town, but also an excellent website.

There are also great specialty stores that may have them, and keep in mind that Mexico grows some of the best vanilla, so a local Mexican grocery may have vanilla beans for sale.

Tapioca pudding is basically vanilla pudding with tapioca in it--tapioca is a root product from (i think) the cassava plant. It comes dried in numerous varieties: on the spot, small, pearl, great pearl (additionally familiar as "fish eye"), etc. you're making tapioca pudding with milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla alongside with the tapioca. you additionally can use tapioca to help congeal fruit pies; I consistently use it in my Strawberry-Rhubarb and my Blueberry pies. And, i like tapioca pudding! take excitement in!
