I play tennis in the sun for about 5 hours, and I'm out all day even when I'm not playing. I'm really tan, and never have been sun burnt before in my life. But my family said they are starting to notice sun damage on my cheeks. I don't want to put sun block (chemicals) on my skin... Do you have any natural ways to keep the sun off of the face?
I already wear a hat...

With your sun exposure, your risk of cancer far outways the risks associated with any sunscreen chemicals.

I know that some natural health food stores, carry sun blocks where the Zinc, which is whats in sun screen that protects your skin, is in an all natural bases, instead of a patrolium base.

Again, with your sun exposure your risk of skin cancer is so high the risks of the chemicals in any sun screen will not outway the benefits you'll get from using them. You are also at high risk for severe premature aging of your skin from all the exposure you get. Sunburns are the worse, but even getting a natural tan on any regular basis will age the skin fast and lead to premature aging of your skin. Women who are always tan will by age 30 have the skin of a fourty to fifty year old; by the time they are around fourty five to fifty, they will look old beyond their years. I had relatives living in Nevada, who by the time they were fourty-five, they looked more like sixty and their skin was so leathery looking.

I'd recommend if you can afford it, going to see a Dermitologist now and having your skin accessed for damage, as they have lights they use to look at your skin, that shows damage the eyes in natural light can't see. You can ask around, find out which Dermetologist tends to offer both standard skin care creams, screens and which also have a working knowledge of more natural products available that they can recommend you use.

Getting into see a Dermetologist and having your skin looked at professionallly could really benefit you by finding out what damage there is. By the time anyone sees it and can point it out to you such as you say your family has, you already have more damage then you or they can see. Gettting on top of it now could save you from developing skin cancer and premature aging of your skin.

Good Luck!

I think I'd suck up the so-called bad chemicals before you get skin cancer. Tanning isn't any healthier than burning, don't fool yourself. You can find mineral makeup... plus regular sunscreens contain zinc oxide, titanium dioxide (which are minerals) soooo yah that's pretty natural.

Wow i have never heard anything so stupid in my life... sun damage is fine but the big bad "chemicals" in sunscreen are worse. hahaha

use a natural sunblock. here's just one:

http://www.planetnatural.com/site/natural-sun-block.html

there's a ton of them, just search for "natural sunblock" online. or, you can go to riteaid.com or the web site for a local store that carries sunblocks and search around and see if they have them.

sunblock is VERY important---even if you don't get burnt.

I've heard mashed coconut oil will do the trick. Never done it myself, but saw it on TV.
