Yes. I will fast. But it doesn't mean that I will abstain from meat and eat fish. I would abstain from fish and eat meat instead. Why? Because the essence of fasting and abstinence is sacrifice. I sacrifice so that others may have more. Whatever I save from buying a fish, I would share it to those who have less.

Church restrictions on diet have to do with medieval laws that keep people from eating meat in the Spring when young animals were slaughtered prematurely. The ban has nothing to do with the bible. Notice too that the restriction of pork consumption was forgotten in the same time period. The Jews and Muslims still shun pork, but in Northern and Western Europe pigs were too important of a food source and the church bent just as they did to limit meat consumption in the Spring which coincides with Easter.

Eat what you want or get a ball and chain for your leg.

I think it is important to observe the Friday no meat rule during Lent - it keeps the sacrifice alive. So...to answer your question...not all fish is expensive but if you can't find what you like or can afford then try some pasta or a good salad...there are always alternatives...be a little creative...

If your Protestant- rules of abstinence do not apply
If you're orthodox- no poultry, meat, fish, eggs or milk products
if you're Catholic. Abstinence from meat.
If you cannot afford it, then you can substitute it with some special penance, like an extra rosary or the stations of the cross or some other devotion suitable for Lent/. Otherwise you can substitute it with acts of mercy. Like visiting the sick or helping a neighbour in need with some sort of assisatance like driving them to the store, or baby sitting for them without pay...all in the spirit of Christian Charity.

I do not fast. I am also not catholic, but I do respect catholics.

Fish is most definately more healthy, and not only more beneficial for the body, but also is for the mind, especially Salmon. And veggies, especially eating your greens are always more healthy for the body and mind, than potatoes, or white rice.

Thanks for you Question. Have a Great Day.

Vegetables are expensive? Man, just go to your grocery store, find a one pound can of beans, then find one pound of ground beef. Then come back here.

Of course we'll fast.
