why do people like dogs more than cats?

i love cats they don't bite, they don't eat as much as dogs, and there always knapping and not frogetting to mention they always look cute.

That is NOT a true! There are more people that have cats as pets. They are easier to care for, low maintenance, low cost and they will not attack and kill people.
You don't have to exercise them or take them out to go potty.
There are many reasons why (in my opinion) cats are better than dogs. They are very clean animals and you don't have to bath them often like you do dogs. Dogs are very active and I like the peace and quiet that I get from having cats as pets.
So I agree that cats are much better.

I have had both and I like cats because I feel most dogs are needier than cats. You can leave cats for a couple of days alone and they are quite happy, dogs need a pet sitter or kennel.

It surely depends on the person's preference.

I don't know that 'people' like dogs more than cats. I know many people who 'prefer dogs' and many who 'prefer cats' and many who don't like having any pets at all. You say that you love cats because they 'don't bite' ... but I've been bitten by far more cats than I have been bitten by dogs. They eat 'less' because they are generally smaller than dogs. And cats sleep 20-22 hours a day, so it's a good thing they always 'look cute' ... but to be totally honest, I think I have the VERY BEST PET IN THE WORLD ... my female hedgehog, Tiggy. She's really a little sweetheart, even if I can't pet her ...

Generally cats are more independent then dogs. As much as most cats do care and love their owners they dont come looking to cuddle or give kisses. Dogs on the other hand needs a lot more attention. They dont just need food and water, but a lot of love. They come looking to sleep with you under your covers. In general people choose dogs over cats because they are putting a lot of time and effort into loving their animal and they would like to see something come out of that, with dogs its love and compassion given back to the owner.

I would change your question's wording to: "Why do humans like dogs and people like cats?" There is something quiet and personable about most cats that not all humans can appreciate. People seem to appreciate this quality in cats and other people.

I love cats! They don't go into meowing fits because someone walked past their house. The are nice and quite. They don't mistake your company's ( visitors) leg for a girl cat and hump it the way male dogs will do. They don't chase cars, They are sweet and cuddly and sit on your lap. and are nice to pet. I have read that there are more cats as pets than dogs. So I think more people like to have more than one cat for a pet .I have one sweet spoiled baby girl a rag doll who weighs 13 lbs and her name is Mia.

The reason it seems that more people like dogs, is because the people who particularly like dogs seem to be more outgoing. Therefore, the word is spread. Unlike cat lovers who seem more quiet about their pets. Dogs are playful and people notice them and want to pet them, whereas cats stay in the shadows i=until people are gone in most cases.

I've had cats all my life and I usued to breed and train German Shepherd dogs for show, obedience, agility and trials.

I have no dogs now and don't wish to have any either, but I will never go without a cat living under my roof!

I like cats better generally. I like them because they are independent and I don't have to mess with them alot. I have 2 cats and one is very independent and the other is almost a dog. Very dependent and needy. Drives me nuts. But he is nice to be with sometimes.
