I would find a neighborhood that is close to where you are going to be working or going to school. Once you determine the name of the area, like Virginia Highlands or Little 5 Points or Buckhead, then find a realtor that specializes in that area. Atlanta is HUGE and there are realtors that don't like to stray too far from their selected area of expertise. You might find someone that really will drive you all over town to look at homes, but I doubt it. I lived there for a looong time and had to do most of the house hunting work myself.

You can go to realtor.com and homegain.com. Both sites show listings of homes so you can see what things cost, square footage, the areas with cheapest/priciest housing listings, etc.
