People have different definitions of what they would want in their “American Dream.” First of all, let’s define American Dream. American Dream is what you would consider a “perfect life.” It can be full of happiness, money, love, food, cars, whatever you desire; everyone has a different opinion. One person’s American Dream may be totally different from someone else’s; that is what makes us all individuals.

Many people would consider it to be a worry free life. In the process of interpreting this worry free environment, many different people have different opinions on the same topic. When people think about their American Dream they tend to be idealistic instead of being realistic. For example, many people think about having millions and millions of dollars; however, they fail to consider the little things that can truly make you happy. Little things such as family and friends, and most importantly, good mental as well as physical health. If you are healthy but live in poverty, you are not truly living your American Dream. If you are a millionaire but are dying from a disease, you are not truly living your American Dream. So what exactly does it take to live a “perfect life”? That is a question that has no right or wrong answer; it simply depends on whom you are asking.

1.) Money - Money gets you food. Money gets you shelter. Money gets you nice things. I believe that money, lots of money, is a big part of everyone’s American Dream; everyone including myself. When most people think of money the first thing that comes to mind is luxuries; however, money is needed for the bare necessities such as food and shelter.

2.) Spare Time - A good relationship with the family is one of the most important things in everyone’s American Dream; however, most people do not realize that strong relationships are based on the amount of quality time spent with each other. Having a high-paying, enjoyable job as well as spare time to spend with my family, would truly be my American Dream. Also, having spare time just to be relaxed can help relieve extra stress caused by a hectic schedule with no free time.

3.) Healthiness - You can have all the money in the world; you can have the best job in the world; you can even have all the spare time in the world; however, if you were to ask any of these individuals what they would want more than anything else, they would all have the same answer: good health. This simply proves that there is nothing more important than having good health.

i don't think Americans even know what the American dream is anymore,, everyone is so blinded by greed and hate and racism,,, oh wait its the pursuit of happiness?? what??? are u honestly happy trying to control country that isn't yours and hurting innocent people who the only thing they did wrong was cross a border,,, isn't that what our ancestors did,,, crossed a border? I'm American you know what my American dream is,, for everyone of every race to live in this country in peace, and stop being racist of someone just because they are brown and don't speak English,,, America has become a greedy hateful nation, and one day real soon its gonna come back and bite you in the @$$.... and Americans wonder why foreigners hate this country,, its not because your country is better ( trust me on that America is not the best ) and its not because you have the power its because you are hateful, ignorant people, who no longer have time for friends or family or things that matter,,you are money driven and have forgotten what it is supposed to mean to be an American....I'm praying for all of ya cuz god is keeping score...

The "American" Dream is a misnomer. It is truly the "Human" Dream. And, it is a struggle or a process, not a Utopian or fascist conclusion. The Human Dream is about rising above the basal rhythms of savagery. It began when humans began. Humans do not want to suffer, to be miserable or cold or hungry or sick or in pain or enslaved. As we learned how to "feather our nests", so to say and as we learned more and more about the world around us, we began to strive for better, healthier ways. Certainly, one of the most significant moments in the Human Dream to rise above those basal rhythms was when we learned to group together and destroy those huge predators that preyed upon us, when we took ourselves out of the food chain. It began to build as we learned how to form social contracts. We learned the rule of reciprocity, or, the Golden Rule in all tribes of man. We rose above cannibalism and human sacrifice and slavery. We rise more above of ignorance and superstitions and fears with every generation. We rise in decency and understanding of objective truths. The people who first immigrated to American came here to escape the diseased paradigms of religious oppression and feudal economic repression. The American Dream was forged upon democratic social agreements of tolerance and respect for each other's just pursuits of happiness and comfort and safety. No matter what savageries put those individual dreams asunder, the Human Dream will continue eternally. Humans will always rediscover the objective truths of Nature which lead to goodness and decency and health.

It is something Americans hope to build in their country. Presumably Mexicans have a 'Mexican Dream' and Germans have a 'German Dream', etc. It is not an offer for foreigners to 'come and get it.'

To live in peace with everything you need. Unfortunately, illegal immigration (I'm assuming you were referring to it) is stunting our American dream.

Tough to define. I've got my own! Didn't require a passport or any noticeable citizenship rigamarole.
