This "code" you speak of has been around for a long long time and is still instilled into the profession on a major level straight across the boards from sea to shining sea !!
Of late, however, there have been some significant changes in all this that are begining to happen--- more and more over time-- department heads and civilian oversight authorities have been taking the forefront in actually prosecuting individuals who were knowledgable about certain things and didn't come forward with the information and what they've known about serious infractions of protacol and rules let alone infractions of the actual laws that happen -----there have been numerous charges of COMPLICITY handed out to these individuals --- and there is nothing quite like felony charges against you that will make standing up at the appropriate time with what you know seem like a very easy thing to do !!!!!
One can only hope that this is the beginning of a new era in that regards--- because if anyting can destroy the public respect in the police-- it is the view that these people not only think they are above the law---but that they are a group that shields one another against the law at times !!!

I believe that the rejection of the church under the british empire and the formulation of 'other churches' actually has alot to do with the answer to your question- even though I am adament about the seperation of church and state and you are probably gnawing your arms off reading this, however- into the breech we go... Peter SEES the Holy spirit...GOD has done this in order that he bind and unbine...for ONE express purpose to demonstrate that love is the fullfillment of the law. So, when these clowns try and create their 'other churches' they are just blind and the Holy Spirit does not back their play to ensure it all conspires to good and glory of GOD. One such 'other' type 'church' is the fraternal order that the police create.
The 'code of silence' you speak of arises when the police are perverted into this gangsterism type fraternal order where their allegience is jacked and put into the service of their own membership and a skewered view of the nation-state,(as they inevitably conflate this with their perverted view of the church).
In the affirmative I will not-so-humbly suggest that WHEN the day arrives that ANY officer feels the slightest bit compelled to committ a crime: 'in order somehow to do his job...ect. ect....' THAT IS THE DAY HE SHOULD RESIGN and find another job. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a tricky thing but safe to say if you are committing treason and putting innocent men in jail and to death...your *ss is done come the resurection. Look at the smirking chimp augustus bushie the war profiteering anarchist...believes he is saved and his ticket is punched...YO- 100 000 dead Iraqi's THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 911...thank you Mr. WAR president. So these fraternal orders and 'gangs' can get you rich and powerful...but YO strive mightily as they ever do...NO ONE HAS YET MADE A LIAR OUT OF GOD. So, the mormons, the kkk, the bible-dumpers, the sons and daugthers of satan- they have their day(s)...but NO ONE ESCAPES THE DAY OF THE LORD...and even though it ain't what they call it...THAT IS WHAT I CALL THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW.

The "code of silence" or it is also called "the blue wall of silence", does exist in some departments and one needs to be careful. I do not agree with it or will condone it and I am at the point in my life and career that I can fight it, if I had to, but some departments live by it????

That rule became a hosptial rule, and that i'm beneficial it is not a state or nearby regulation. they might desire to have set a sturdy occasion and persist with the policies nonetheless. Is there a guess they did no longer see that sign? I actual have seen law enforcement officers destroy regulations.....and you're proper....those law enforcement officers who destroy regulations are hippocrites, and make all the different law enforcement officers look undesirable. the only thank you to wrestle a cop breaking a regulation it truly is to call their workplace and make a complaint. they might desire to be putting the example to us all.....somewhat infants.
