The neighborhood I work next to is the stuck-up, rich golf course in every backyard, 1.4M starting price kind of neghborhood...

They even hired Wackenhut to police their area, full time.

I speed often, and Wackenhut tries to pull me over, alot. They did one time, but just held me until they called the cops...
My car can pretty much outrun their vehicles, they have Jeep liberties, so I just ignore them.

Does Wackenhut really have any right to give me a ticket?

Security officers are not commissioned peace officers. They cannot legally issue traffic tickets, whether on private property or not. Unless the security officer is an off-duty Police Officer working a side job as security, they have no legal authority to write you a ticket. If a security officer tries to pull you over, you do not have to stop. I would recommend you don't. They are breaking law by attempting to initiate a traffic stop. They have no more authority than you would if you tried to pull someone over. The next time one tries to pull you over, call the Police.

They have as much authority as a 6 year old in their toys r us battery operated police car and bullhorn.
They are employed to be "eyes and ears" and that is it. If the snobs wanted to do it right then they would contract a couple of officers with the local agency that has jurisdiction.
If they did that however they themselves would then have the possibility of being subjected to the same thing wacken nut is trying to do to you, the only difference is they would have no physical control over a contracted officer like I am sure they do over the security guard.

I work at a gated community and they have their own armed police force within the site....now these police can and do pull you over etc............but the rule is IF you are caught speeding more than twice then you lose ANY right to come into the gated community, hence no job...........so I can not see how these people are patrolling an open area..........with any jurisdiction at all.
