Its a cultural thing, I've seen pictures of her and Jesus as blonde and blue eyed, Chinese, Black, etc. If you have ever seen what the people of Isreal look like you'll note they are dark skinned, and dark eyed, mostly

Blond haired and blued people (Western Europeans-Italians get it from the Lombard's-German) were and are the best artists, industrialists, scientists, have the best governments. "Since world history is euro-centric". (AS (A History of Europe) J.M. Roberts puts it.) Because the artists thought it aesthetically preferable. As for Mary (A Jew) King David is described as being Ruddy-a reddish skin tone (His grand mother was Ruth-A Moabites) and Solomon was black haired and pale skinned. I mention these because she was directly related to them. And yes it’s doubtful she had blue eyes. The Jews were not black as some claim (Although Sephardic Jews are for lack of homogenizing.) or the Biblical statement: "Can the cheater change his spots or can the Ethiopian change his skin" would not make any sense. We don't know much about how she looked and it really doesn't matter since Jesus Christ was born of the virgin and died on the cross and rose again the 3ed day to die for the sins of the whole world. (Yellow red brown black and white...) Let the whites have a blue eyed Christ and the Blacks have an African, Christ is God and all Men (Women too) are made in his image. We that believe will see him someday as he is, and when we are made perfect I don't think we'll have this dame obsession with race as we do in the US today.
Whites did not start Christianity, God did and He used the Jews to do it. As for the Jews that stopped following God because they were offended by Christ, they can take it up with God who is Jesus Christ=Yaway. He is one God. The only de-jewifycation that took place was the Jews separating themselves from the Church and persecuting it in the beginning. But God was with us, as it is written, "My Name shall be Great among the Gentiles" SEE: Gommer and Yerevan. And the remnant of the Jews will return to God in due season and the time of the Gentile will be at an end. But don't lie to yourself; the Jews are in rebellion to their God who is Christ their redeemer.

Because we have no idea what the oiginal looked like.
There are many pictures of Jesus and Mary where the artist imposes his own cultural characteristics to the Holy.
A more important question might be his expression: before the second World War Jesus was always pictured as a solemn, serious figure. After that, pictures of Jesus start showing Jesus smiling and the concept of "Jesus is Love" bloom.
Basically Jesus changed maany times throughout history.

Of course no-one knows what Mary really looked like and she is often idolized by many people. Its only an image in a persons head of what they want her to look like. She was around like a 2000 years ago and they didn't have camera's back then!! Anyway Mary was just another human being like us. She just had the privilege of birthing the Saviour of the world.

apparently thats a way of telling people she was a virgin when really she wasnt. People with blue eyes and blonde hair look more "angelic", innocent and pure then people with darker features. I dont know, i think it just comes down to the fact that angels were all portraied as blonde with blue eyes so there you go.

They even portray Jesus wrong. He was a carpenter so he was strong, no Home Depots back then. Plus he walked around so Jesus was in good shape, not skinny like they paint him out to be.
The Bible doesn't describe what Jesus or the Virgin Mary looked like, so it's all speculation. We know they were Jewish and were very faithful.

Because that's the what the European artists thought she looked like,I suppose.I mean,it's wrong, but they wouldn't have seen many other types of colouring.
But you know,I have never seen a picture of Mary with blond hair and blue eyes. All the ones I've seen have shown Mary as dark haired with brown eyes.I guuess it depends on what art you see.

For that one you must ask the Catholics- they are the one's that have made an idol of her. I am not sure I have ever seen a blonde haired Mary around where I live though. Probably a mistake.

I think historians were trying to map out what the people in Israel looked like back in those days and, unless my information is old, I believe they were black. But that's not what the white population wants to believe, said in the best possible way. The people believe in a man of the people, so why not look like the majority of those he's representing, especially since there is no real proof of who looked like what.

Why is Jesus potrayed as white man in the movies or pictures? Christianity was started by white people so therefore, they felt the right to project their image on Mary and Jesus.
