If you do a little research, you'll find enough information to see that global warming is a questionable theory, not a FACT of impending doom! The evidence points to the sun as being a more probable culprit to the NORMAL temperature fluctuations....

Are people so desperate to feel good about themselves that they think replacing a light bulb will save us all?

People like Al Gore are simply playing on your emotions to take money out of your pockets! His movie has made more money for Paramount than any other movie! Plan on more global warming propaganda movies....

What happenened to the doomsayers in the 50's and 60's claiming that an Ice Age was coming? Only 40-50 years later, we're going to die because it's too hot?!?!?!

I'm all for conservation, but it needs to be done with FACTS!

Please people. Get a grip on reality and wake up from the brainwashing....

Real scientists are ALWAYS open to debate.

The so-called "scientists" who have decided that global warming is closed to debate are mostly SOCIAL SCIENTISTS, not the math/physics/chemistry/biology types of scientists. And, while their scientific background only includes the study of "social science" or "political science" or "economics" they gleefully promote "global warming" and support a dufus like Al Gore although NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND. Gore has an undergraduate degree in journalism (for Pete's sake); he flunked out of divinity school and was rejected for law school.

Those who are intent on manipulating the world know that people will be willing to sit on their lazy butts to watch the lies of "An Inconvenient Truth" but they are not smart enough to read, and understand, Michael Crichton's book "State of Fear."

Even worse, the Hollywood crowd promotes these phony "scientists" without understanding the first thing about academia; many of them didn't even finish high school and the ones who went to college majored in "theater arts" (no science) and they don't ever see the opposing side because the media "lies by omission".

Smart people read the writings of Ball, Sorenson, and Gray. The dummies watch Al Gore's movie and run around like Chicken Little. [Some days I fear we have re-entered the Dark Ages.]

Speaking as someone who IS concerned about global warming, I would like to ask the opposite question: "why are people so skeptical?" Actually, I have an idea why. When 5 o'clock news comes out with some teaser story that tells us chocolate is bad for us, then tomorrow its good for us, it's no wonder people don't believe these warnings.

But global warming is different. Since the 1970's, atmospheric scientists around the world have been seriously studying the effects human activities might have on the climate. It's true that at that early stage, some scientists predicted that the particles in pollution would cool the earth, bringing about another "ice age." But there was no consensus on that view, and atmospheric computer modeling (and computers!) were very crude. Nearly 40 year's later, much more advanced models have allowed us to better understand the relative effects of particles, solar radiation, and greenhouse gases, and the model results agree with what we see happening around us. The conclusion of the overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists (not to mention U.S. agencies like the National Academy of the Sciences , NASA, and NOAA) is that global warming is happening, and is caused by humans.

Al Gore didn't invent the issue, and the world would be worried about it even if he hadn't made his movie. The only thing that Al Gore did was finally bring the issue to the attention of many. So as typically skeptical Americans, we are just now beginning to think about this seriously (albeit much later than the rest of the world.) I don't know how much money he got, but I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.

It is similar to the placebo effect in medicine. Even a sugar pill gives good results if the doctor and patient believe in it.

Believe in global warming gives comfort and meaning to miserable people, the same way that arabs need to hate jews.

Any true believer that even thinks about deviating or questioning ... is labeled a heretic and shunned.

So this will run its course until a new cause is found.

The USA has an aging population. Telling them they should lower their standard of living, so we can have COLDER winters ... just doesn't resonate with anyone.

My problem with the global warming hype and yes its hype. Is the people that are preaching this theory. Practicing what they are preaching? How many Hollywood "stars" have jumped on Gore's bandwagon? My thoughts are this...how many private jets have you seen scrapped? How many has moved into a smaller homes? Heaven forbid is the house is less that 10,000 sq feet. With a heated pool no less. What sort of environmental foot print is that? I raised up 3 kids in a 1,800 square foot home. Its all a bunch of bull. Do as I say not as I do liberal horse pucky

You nailed it. We tend to respond more to emotion than to facts. For example, how many people are afraid to fly in airplanes -- especially right after 9/11? How many people are afraid to order a Big Mac, Fries, and a Super-size soda from the drive-thru? But relatively few people die in airplane crashes, yet... heart disease is one of the (if not THE) largest killers of our time. Let's do energy conservation for ourselves, to cut costs not to feel better (even a bit self-righteous?). Let's do it for our community, to move toward "no rolling black outs" and purchase of high-cost out-of-state energy. Let's do it for national security -- to reduce our dependence on foreign (especially Mid-East) oil. From what I read, cost savings, reliable energy, and national security are issues that more people care about (in about that order). To the degree that this will be better for the environment, and if there is anything to the global warming, this will be icing (no pun intended) on the cake.

The climate is changing. How it will play out no one knows yet but we need to be prepared and we need to channel resources in learning how to clean up the enviroment for our childrens sake.

how i envey the bliss of ignorence enjoyed by so many ,
but for how long can one have his head in the sand ,before noticing that your a**s is on fire

Is global warming a man-made menace?

not all there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

some home truths

politicians and scientists who work for politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many people income, and most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use
