yes in 8 to 12 weeks from when the IRS receives the Amended Return. The refund will be mailed to you as there is no option for direct deposit with an Amended Return

You will, if the IRS accepts the return.
What we generally suggest at our office is to let the return go on through the system, and go ahead and let them send you whatever refund (if there is one) on the original return, deposit that knowing you may have to turn around and pay part of it back in with the amended return. It's wise to go ahead and make out the amended return and have it ready to go, but file the amended return after you've received the refund on the original one. That way you already know whether you'll have to pay money back, and if so what the amount will be.
You'll need to mail in the 1040X, and whatever supporting schedules and papers go with it. The IRS doesn't accept e-filed amended returns.

If the amended return results in a lower tax liability, you should receive it in 6 - 10 weeks.

Yes, this happened to me one year. Someone filled my taxes out and put me down as head of household but didn't put the dependant on there and so I had to filed an amended return to the IRS and resubmit it. It took a lot longer to get but I did get it.
