I always seem to start getting a very dry throat at about the exact same time each school day! During social studies class, my throat always starts drying in the start of class, itching in the middle, and I always start coughing at the end.

I have tried getting drinks before class starts. The drinking fountain is too far away, so I can't go during class. Also, water doesn't even help. My throat dries up all the same.

I feel really embarrased when I cough because usually everyone else is quiet and starts staring at me. I can't suck candy in class!

What are some ways I can STOP COUGHING once and for all?!

p.s. This never happens in any other class. Why?

Try cough drops. (Or any kind of hard candy that takes a while to eat.) As long as you're sucking on it, you'll continue to salivate. That might help.

The room you're in might be too dry. I see you said that you're not allowed to have candy in class. Do you think that maybe you can pull aside your teacher one day and explain your problem, and ask if it's OK to have cough drops if you do it discreetly? The worst that can happen is he/she will say no.

Strange, I'm starting to wonder if there is something in the class room you are having a chemical reacation to. Do you sit next to someone who always wears a certain colonge? Maybe there is some sort of mold in the class room? Start observing everything around you.

If you still cannot figure it out, talk to the teacher. I'm sure they would allow you to suck on a cough drop even if it does "diobey the rules" at least you won't be disturbing the class.
good luck!

It sounds like there may be a psychological reason behind your coughing since it only happens during social class. Are you nervous about social in some way? Or perhaps does someone else in that class make you feel nervous?

I guess another explanation could be that you have an allergy to something in that classroom which is making you cough.

Good luck figuring it out!

Try keeping hard candy in your pocket. Maybe you haven't had a routine drink that time of day. Could the room be too dry? Maybe the other rooms aren't that warm or dry.

mostly you have allergic reaction to something in the class ,you have to investigate 1 of 3 , . the class room a/c or (if it is furnished) the class room carpet or your colleague perfumes
did you try to sit in the class alone and see ? or with the a/c off ?
it is worth to visit Immunologist he might request you to do skin allergy test
