Depression is a clinical diagnosis that cannot really be judged by saying your cry at nigh and get really sad for no reason.

If you are really sad and can't find a logical reason behind it, there is probably something in your past you haven't dealt with emotionally causing it.

If you're crying at night, what are you crying about? That is probably a pretty good indicator of what the source of your sadness is.

I spent a few weeks hospitalized for depression. The best definition of depression I heard was "self-hate". Its a state of disliking yourself sooooo much that nothing in your life seems right. Everything feels bad. Nothing feels good. You don't want to eat because nothing interests you. You just want to sleep, not because you're tired, but because its a way to get away for awhile.

If that resemble what you're feeling than just saying that you're sad for no reason, then you're probably depressed. Check out this website:

Or, call 1800-999-9999. Its the Covenant House teen help line. They are there to help you out.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope it all works out for you.

If this has been going on for 2 weeks to a month or more you probably are depressed.

There are two general types of depression. Exogenous - is when external events going wrong. The stuff of country music songs. This type will usually pass with time and talking with friends or family.
Endogenous - is more serious and typically longer term in duration. Symptoms usually include trouble sleeping and/or trouble with appetite. This type tends to have a biological component and respond well to anti-depressant medications.

One out of four people in this country will suffer from depression at some time in their life, so you are hardly alone.
Talk to someone about what it going on. If this has been going on a long time and is interfering with life activities, it is probably worth seeing a psychiatrist or your primary care doctor for anti-depressants.
Regular exercise also tends to have a positive effect on depression with or without medications.

well you could be depressed or barely entering the depression thing if you have some of thease signs you might be ahead in depression:
Persistent sad, anxious or "empty" mood
Changes in sleep patterns
Reduced appetite and weight loss, or increased appetite and weight gain
Loss of pleasure and interest in once-enjoyable activities, including sex
Restlessness, irritability
Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as chronic pain or digestive disorders
Difficulty concentrating at work or at school, or difficulty remembering things or making decisions
Fatigue or loss of energy
Feeling guilty, hopeless or worthless
Thoughts of suicide or death
so make sure you go check with you doctor and tell him how you are fealing and maybe you can go with a pshycologis or you can get medication before it affects you more.

good luck

You probably are suffering from depression. It might be hard, but the best thing you can do is talk to someone about it. Tell your parents, and try to set up theropy. Im saying this, because it might get worse, and when depression gets worse, it can take over your emotions completly.... So go talk, and i hope you get better :)

Yes you may have problems that are related to emotional symbols. I would see a mental doctor IMMEDIATELY. Although it may seem scary and very depressing to see a mental doctor, it will altimately save you in the end from doing something stupid.

First talk to someone you trust, talk all your problems. If this doesn't work, see a mental doctor.

good luck

you could be. it's hard to tell from your question. it could just be hormones if you're a teenager, but if you keep crying every night or do so for a long time, talk to someone! it could be a friend or parent or even a journal. if you need to, get a psychiatrist's help. good luck!

You may well be but you need to see a doctor to find out. Depression is really heavy duty so getting it seen to quickly is really important.
Please rest assured that you can be treated successfully and be happy again.
Hugs and best wishes
