After all the KJV Bible says that holy men from Asia that meditate in peaceful bliss should be hated. (Well it doesn't, but someone has probably made the case).

Buddhism is not a Religion it is a philosophy. While many Buddhists are Hindus there is absolutely no contradiction between being a Buddhist and a Christian. In fact in Japan many Buddhists are Christians. One can be a Christian and also be a Republican or a Democrat. A Christian can also agree with the teachings of or Plato or Buddha. Of course when you are talking about fanaticism and hate you are talking about ignorance. There seems to be plenty of that in America. Just like there is plenty of hate in some fanatical Americans for blacks, illegal aliens, hippies, Muslims, you name it, there will probably be some for Buddhists. Hate is about ignorance and fear.

People will always find something to hate.

Hell, we've already hated:

- Other races (blacks, hispanics, asians)
- Other sexualities (gays, trans)
- Other philosophies (communism, marxism)
- Alternative gender roles (girls working, men growing long hair)
- Democrats, Republicans, Conservitives, Liberals.

Just like every other person on the planet...it has nothing to do with Americans. You clearly dislike Americans, even though I'm sure you know few. It doesn't take a lot of thought to inspire hatred, only ignorance.

Why not? Buddhism is the most friendly of all religions. Besides, it never criticizes any faith. I am a Catholic and I have a strong regard towards Buddhism. In fact, I am able to assimilate much from their rituals and enriched my being Catholic.

People are people first... there are even people who call themselves Buddhist who do rotten things that cause suffering and harm and they claim it's okay based on the Buddhist concept of "emptiness", which is a totally incorrect view and understanding of the philosophy on emptiness as we Buddhists really understand it. People hate people, who happen to declare something that challenges their sense of self and their self-cherishing ideas... so there are people who hate Buddhists and "Buddhists" who hate Buddhists.

I think you'll get the understanding from this that "hate" is a mental construct that only has as much value and power as the person wielding it gives it. Neo-Nazis hate anyone who challenges their world-view... see what I mean?

That would be retarded as Buddhism is a religion of peace. Then again some people don't like peace.

One more foolish question. Here is why the question is completely foolish. How many schools with children in class have the Buddhist blown up? How many school children have been gunned down by Buddhist. How many planes have Buddhist blown up? List the numbers of people that have been raped by the Buddhist. When did a Buddhist go TV for the world to see, and saw off a mans head ( an American ) while he was pleading with them not to do it. Answer is never, it is always Muslims.

Americans function together more in politics than religion. If Buddhists were to strike a chord politically, perhaps, but never religiously. And that'd probably never happen-- Buddhism is such a peaceful religion.

,That could happen but the interesting thing is that Buddha said much of what Jesus said only 500 years earlier. I believe Jesus traveled to India during his missing years and studied Buddhism

If anyone should strike you with his hand, with a stick or a knife, abandon any desires and utter no evil words.
Majjhima Nakiaya 21:6
Words of Buddha

500 YEARS LATER...

If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also.
Luke 6:29
Words of Jesus
