If the cat is simply urinating outside the litter box, first consider: is the litter box kept clean? Not once a week clean, but scooped at least daily. Some cats will show their displeasure at a dirty litter box by peeing anywhere and everywhere else. Some will also do this if they have to share a litter box. If you have more than one cat, you may want to add another litter box to the household. It may also be a medical issue. Male cats are more susceptible to urinary tract problems. If he seems uncomfortable or spends a lot of time jumping in and out of the litter box, or if it is a problem that has occurred suddenly, you should take the cat to his vet.

If the problem is spraying, the problem is harder to deal with. Spraying (when they back up to an object or wall, shake their tail, and squirt urine out horizontally) is a natural territorial behavior. If it is a young, unaltered kitten, neutering him now may indeed stop this behavior, before it becomes strong habit. If it is an older tom or an already neutered male, you probably will not be able to stop him, unless the behavior is new. If the spraying is a new behavior, what has changed in his environment recently? Major changes (a new pet, guests visiting, a new baby, even moving furniture) can stress a cat and cause him to start marking. In this case, removing the cat from the stressor temporarily, and gradually introducing him to the changes in a very calm way may help. Feliway may help in instances like this as well.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

have him neutered and then buy a product called urinegone at bed bath and beyond and they have a black light that comes with the product so it shows where the cat has peed and you spray it and it really gets down to chemically get rid of the odor so the cat can't smell it any more so he won't go in those places again, that is usually why they pee inside, they go back to where they peed because they can smell the old urine. It really works I use it. You can also find it by googleing it urinegone

Is he peeing or is he spraying? There is a big difference.

Both are ways of marking his territory but the spraying will stop with neutering. The peeing is possibly a medical problem or just him showing you he is the boss. If it is not a medical problem get a water bottle and spray him as soon as you catch him at it.

Get him fixed. He is probably very Territorial and the urinating is his way of marking his territory. Unfixed male cats do this if they are outdoor or indoor cats to mark boundaries , so if another cats comes along and smells it, that cat will know another cat is in that area. One other reason the cat may be doing this, is he wants something or he is not happy in his current surroundings. Anything else and the vet may need to be involved. It could be anything from Diabetes to feline urological disease.

Litterbox? Lol. Well, if you already have one, the only thing I can think of is for you to, every time it pees on something, squirt it with some water. I never had this problem before, but I know it will make the cat sorry. =(

There is a product called "Feliway" that you can get as a spray or as something you plug into the wall - you can probably get it from your vet or have them order it for you. It has pheromones in it that sometimes helps to stop the problem.

You can't.
Once they start, you cannot get them to stop. Oh, some people will tell you "get him neutered" but trust me, it won't work.

You have to get rid of him, OR put up with the pee. YUCK!
Once they start to spray, they will always spray.
