Consider taking Biotin and zinc. Slathering on creams is an outward fix for a short time. You might, also, want to check with your dermatologist about vitamin A. Don't just start taking Vitamin A without consulting a doctor-it can be toxic. A very low dose will sometimes ease the dryness. Eucerin cream helps a lot

I have the same problem & do a few things to help alleviate it.

In the shower I use Aveeno body wash or a Cetaphyl bar. Both are very moisturizing & non-soap based.
As soon as I get out of the shower I rub baby oil into my skin to lock in moisture & then dry off. After that I moisturize with Eucerine lotion.

I also take flaxseed oil daily & drink plenty of water.

Mash 1 tablespoon of ripe banana and add to it 1 tablespoon honey. Apply this mask on the affected area and leave it to dry. Then wash it off with cold water. This mask acts as a moisturizer .You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at the link below.

Aveeno makes an oatmeal bath that is wonderful! Also, look for any body lotions for severely dry skin--look on the back where it lists the ingredients and look for one that doesn't list water as the first ingredient.

Try a creamy petroleum jelly lotion (available at Walmart at about $2 per tube.) This really helps my five year old daughter who is advising me at this very moment.
