if you are in the US and driving no passport needed, just a drivers license.(for both entering Canada and the States). If you are flying you need a passport.

First get a passport then the Visa just to be safe at the custom.

As of the beginning of 2007, you need a passport only to go back and forth from Canada and the US

If you're American and coming from the States, you need picture ID and a birth certificate, or a passport.

if you are a CITIZEN of the U S..England ...France( I THINK) and a few more Canadian friendly countries NO VISA required...but ppl from the Caribbean(e.g. jamaica) need one...hope that helps you out
