i was watching the show on youtube a couple of weeks back.and as a western Muslim i found that show to be giving a poor representation of Muslims in the west.and Muslims in general.and its so haraam the way the women and men are mixing freely in a place of worship. socializing is for outside the mosque.
i don't spend 24/7 at the mosque.and there are some other aspects of that show i thought were very unislamic.like how the husband and wife were discussing their sex life with other people.

what are your thoughts.

is not extreme.but there are hadith.in which the prophet Muhammad(pbuh) has said that one of the worst people on judgement day are those who sleep with their spouse and tell other's about it.

I agree, that was a very poor and misleading representation of Muslims. It was probably aired to make Muslims look bad. Just goes to show u how and against who this country is truly racist against, and of course no on wants to admit it.

Little Mosque on the Prarie is a pretty funny comedy about Muslim life and a very good attempt, in my opinion, to portray to the American people how normal Muslims are and we're just like everyone else, and it has my two thumbs up. It was made by a Muslim woman by the way, and I agree that some parts misrepresented us a little, I think it was not too bad.

I think you have some "extreme" views here on Islam. First of all, nothing is wrong with men and women socializing in the Mosque. Sure, it is a place of worship and not meant to talk and socialize, but it is not haram.

Discussing your sex life with other people is not haram at all, where did you hear that? Islam does not condone discussing your sex life with other people.

Yes, I was watching that show not too long ago. I found the first episode quite amusing, and very true, but later episodes seemed to be trying to make fun of us Muslims...I wonder if the person who made the show was Muslim, or how much they know about Islam, because you're right the show is DEFINITELY a poor representation of Muslims in the west.

well you know what they say: we fear what we don't know. think back 40, 50 years - it was the same thing with black people. and even now, although we KNOW better than to make judgments about someone based on their skin color, race, religious background etc.

to be honest, i think part of it is really a mutual lack of understanding and being open about a different culture, different way of life. i mean, as westerners we see televised images of hoards of dark haired men lighting flags on fire or beating themselves with nail-studded planks of wood...well, let's just say that comes across as being kind of scary. i'm sure the same is true of how many people in the middle east see the west: a bunch of infidels, loose women and greedy mass-hysteria.

the truth is that, just as with rosa parks getting on that bus one day and deciding she wasn't going to sit in the back anymore, change is gradual. i can only hope that, in time, there will be more dialogue, more interest, more exchange and more understanding between the west and the middle east....

i enjoy that coach! one among my online acquaintances posts episodes each and each and a week and that i for my section appreciate it. From a non-Muslim attitude, i think of of it must be great if that coach grew to alter into into aired everywhere. it ought to hold Muslims nearer to the something of the international and bring some expertise.
