Your puppy is considered a "Working Class Dog". Your dog is very high maintenance .. as you can see. Does your dog have a large backyard to run in? If not I would suggust walking your dog every day or a least every other. I take my dog roller blading she pulls me. You have to be careful becuase your dog will continue to run. Be careful of high heat and make sure she has plenty of water. I would only run her 10 - 15 minutes in cooler weather conditions.
Australian Shepherds are Cattle Dogs. They run all day and keep the herd in order. Eski's pull .... I am sure you know the history sorry....
Another thing you can do is purchase the large dog bones becareful not to let her chew on it to long as it will give her a tummy ache.
Is your dog spayed? Having your pet spayed will help her calm down as well. Chose a dog food that has a lot of protein.
Reward your dog for good behavior. If your pet is behaving badly try not to give it a lot of negative attention... Saying NO a lot and pointing and jumping around only makes your animal believe that you are playing and will cause them to continue. Just with a stern voice tell them no and redirect your dog.
If you dog jumps up on you or others. Step on her back feet (paws) or walk into the dog. Your breed of dog can walk backwards so I would step on her feet.. NOT TO HARD just enough to let her know you do not want her to jump on you and/or others.* NOT INTENDED FOR SMALL DOG BREEDS!
Have you been to the pet store and have you seen the tug a war ropes purchase one of those they are great to play with your pet.
Also, look into a large breed Kong. You can either purchase the Expensive Can that you spray into into the Kong OR you can buy some cheap Peanut Butter and fill it up Your dog will use his/her mind to figure out how to get the Peanut Butter out.
With a Working Class Dog it is recommended that you keep your dogs mind busy. Find things to do with your pet that challenges it's mind. Me and my dog play Hide and seek I bought a squeaky goose and I hide it... My dog then will look around and find it. Obviously you can not hide it as to where your pet can not find it she will lose her attention and not enjoy the game.

Ah...I had an Australian Shepherd mix Beagle at one time. She was so gorgeous. Her right eye was blue and her left eye was green. I still have her pictures.
Well, Australian Shepherds are one of the most hyperactive dogs known to man. I should know...Justice ate my carpet. >.<;; So, really, all you can do is continue to try and train her. But, my boyfriend's cousin, Brady, he has a Labrador Retriever mix Golden Retriever, her name is Sandy. She has this problem where she will run all the way down the road, because these idiots fed her food. Well, they're buying this device that you attach to two sides of a fence. Like...One here ---> | | <--- and one there, so it goes across an opening. The dog will wear a collar and whenever it tries to go across that area, the collar will give her a little shock.
It may be a good idea...

I have a Border Collie also a dog full of energy. He would also love to herd the traffic in the road. To stop that, I put in a invisible fence. The trained him where the boundry was. He has 2 acres to run in. He can race the mail truck that goes by at 5 pm. That fixed the going into the road issue. Your dogs bad temper, I don't what to say about that. I took my dog the obedience school. I had to work with him a lot. He was 18 months old and never had proper or very little training. He was a loose cannon they day he arrived here.

I use to have a dog that was the very same breed mix. She use to run away all the time I think after one year ever one in the whole neighborhood new her and where she belonged but we didn't have any probleams with a temper. I had her in training classes for many years and did shows with her.You said u tried training classes with her too but they didn't work. Training a dog can some times take many years If it didn't work the first time. Maybe it's cause u might not of went long enough it take time. You might also want to try another training place. Some places don't give good advice. When I was training a class I had a student come to class and told me his vet put his dog on tranqulizers just to get the dog to calm down and beable to learn something. I didn't like it at first but a vet told me it's like when u have a child with ADHD they need meds to calm them down to learn better well same goes for animals. I found it to work very well during our training and he wasn't as agressive either or hyper. I would also ask your vet for alittle advice he might beable to help with it more. Oh and don't mind that dude complaining about ur spelling cause not everyone can be perfect. Beside his answer is the most stupid and inhumane one. Someone should just shoot him for being a prick.

I too have an Australian Shepherd. I researched and know that they are high energy. He is a really good boy, but he has a few "unwanted" beahviors . . like jumping up on people when greeting them, fixation on certain toys, and most recently, he likes to bolt outside and run-not wanting to come when called. I have been reading the "Dog Whisperer" and fully understand that my dog does not get nearly enough exercise. One walk and a few games of fetch is not enough for this breed. I am going to start taking him for 2 walks a day and probably fence in the yard as well, so we can play frisbee or agility.
So to answer your question . . I think your dog too needs MUCH more exercise- both walking and other vigerous types. Good Luck!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7fo
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I agree with several of the answers ......exercise..lots of it. The dog happens to be a mix of 2 breds that usually need alot of exercise for mental stimulation. Aussies usually like only their family and tolerate others.....especially if they were not socialized properly when a puppy. You have to learn to be very dominate, don't waiver from what you want the dog to do or not to do, and please don't stop with just one obedience class. Is the animal spayed or nuetered? if not do so it will help greatly!!!!!
