I live near New Haven and I want to catch a 6:30 am flight in JFK airport. In order to catch the flight, the trian station would have to be open 24 hours a day. Is it? Thanks!

Also: Does the train go all the way to JFK? If not, how do you get to JFK from Grand Central Station? Thanks again!!!

There is no direct service from Grand Central to JFK by rail.

[Also there is no direct rail service from Penn Station either - you would have to take a train to Jamaica and switch to the AirTrain]

As sort of indicated above, Grand Central is closed from about
1 AM to 5 AM each day.

There is a bus service from GCT (across the street on Park Av - you can ask at the info booth in the main area in GCT). They probably have limited operating hours.

The subway connections from Grand Central are as follows:

Uptown (6) [or (4) if it is running local] to 51st St. Transfer to uptown E train to Sutphin Blvd. You can pick up the AirTrain ($5 separate fare) to JFK. It is not a quick trip.)

As sort of indicated above, Grand Central is closed from about
1 AM to 5 AM each day.

Your best bet - try a limo service at that hour of the morning (check your phone directory).

If you're going to take the train - leave the day before and spend a relaxing night at a hotel next to JFK.

Otherwise, take either Greyhound or a shuttle service because no public transit combination will get you from New Haven to JFK in plenty of time to catch a 6:30 AM flight.

Last train on a weekday leaves New Haven at 11:18pm and arrives at Grand Central at 1:05am. The train after that leaves at 4:12am arriving at Grand Central at 5:47am. You would have to get to Penn Station or another location to grab the train to JFK. There are a few ways to get their on public transportation. Unless you want to catch a train more than 7 hours before your flight, this plan will not work.

Yes it is open 24/7 and it goes all the way to JFK.
