no soda, no sweets, no fried foods. good gentle facial soap, good light facial lotion, good 30spf+ sunscreen and last but not least, lots of sleep. Proactiv is a good set of products but neutragena, shiseido, sisly, etc are good too. Just expensive. St. Ives makes a good facial lotion and exfoliant. stay away from acne medication in general. The chemicals are harsh and will cause problems long term. Also try not to touch your face often, the oils in your fingers can be problematic. Exercise and regular sweating also help to naturally clear pores and prevent blackheads. It's not all about bacteria and infection. The bacteria is part of the natural flora on your skin. That's why harsh chemicals and washing like crazy only work termporarily at best while damaging and further drying the skin. The problem occurs when your body is not able to fend them of like it normally does. The bacteria are predominantly opportunistic that's why you get them more when you are tired or stressed or sick. Also, changing hormones can effect your natural immunity as well. The best way is to improve your overall health by getting the right nutrition, blocking bad nutrition, getting rest and improving your health. Also, the answer to oily skin is not to dry it out. your skin will only create more oil to compensate for the dryness and your problem will get worse in the long run. If you have oily skin, find a good moisturizer and help your skin so it doesn't have to produce as much oil. Does all this sense? Hope you found this helpful.

Different things help different people, depending on the actual cause. If your skin is oily, then washing your face twice a day, using moisturizer which is oil-free, and some type of acne treatment will normally help. The key is finding the right combo for your problem. If it's quite bad, then you might consider going to a dermatologist or even your family doctor, in which case they can prescibe Rx face medication which might help better than over-the-counter. Also, antibiotics which are taken for several months normally help most people, although you would need a pretty bad case in order for them to be prescribed for you. I used to deal with pretty bad acne, and used Rx creams, antibiotics, etc., but what worked best for me was Proactive. That doesn't mean it'll necessarily work for you, but it did completely clear my face. If you are young, sometimes just establishing a face care system like I described above - never forget to wash your face in the morning and evening, and use a gentle cleanser designed for acne-prone skin. If you have hair or bangs on the forehead, this can cause breakouts because of the oil in your hair, and it could be as simple as keeping hair off your face. Well, hope this helps. Honestly, going to the doctor might be the fastest way to take care of the problem, since I know you want the problem resolved ASAP. Sometimes antibiotics for just a couple of months will help enough to let a good face routine and cream medication to begin working. Just don't let it become worse where it begins to scar the skin, which happens as you become older or the problem begins to become severe, spreading to the nose and cheeks, etc.

Acne is the result of an infected whitehead. Bacteria manage to get trapped underneath your skin and then cause an infection. The best way to treat acne is by applying a cream or ointment with a drying agent like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These can be found in a number of products at your local drugstore.
If you have tried several products and acne removal techniques with no results, it's probably time to see a dermatologist. They can assess your skin condition and might have to prescribe special medication for your acne problem. Remember that you are not going to see results within days of using any particular treatment, so do give things a chance before rushing off to see a doc.
