I've never experienced anything like this. My back and chest are covered in raised light pink welts, as is my face. I've taken benadryl and soaked in an oatmeal bath. I can't afford expensive treatments or a doctor's visit right now. The last one cost me almost 60 bucks and all she did was write a prescription for Chantix, a stop smoking pill. I was in there maybe 5 minutes. Suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks all, crisis over. You had some good suggestions. I had an allergic reaction. The oatmeal baths and benadryl did the trick! Thanks again.

For hives, my family takes a bath in baking soda, to calm the skin down, along with medications from the doctor. We get them so badly! Find out if you are allergic to something you are around or are eating or smelling. Think about your anxiety level when you get hives. Anxiety brings my entire family down with total body coverage hives, inside and out! Your doctor has specific creams to apply to your skin that are just for hives! Let you and your doctor figure out the best cream for you. You may need a shot, as well. Go for it!

You may need Prednisone therapy under the care of a doctor. I know it is not easy to spend money for a doctor visit, but if Benadryl and hydrocortisone creams don't help - and it isn't getting any better - I would not mess around with this type of reaction. If you don't have any medical insurance, see if you can find a doctor or dermatologist that has a sliding scale fee based on your income. And if you are really poor, the doctor may be able to give you samples in the office to help you out.

I have had chronic hives daily since 6/1/2006. My suggestion to you is to visit this site and search the archives for anything you may have questions on. There is also a "recipe" for lotion that many have found hugely helpful. Good luck, very sorry for your discomfort. www.chronichives.com

Try washing your skin with vinegar. You can add some to your bath water. Other than that, you can try (a separate) bath with baking soda, or make a paste with baking soda and water, then put it all over your skin.

Keep taking the benadryl. Drink lots and lots of water.

Good luck!

You need to find out what you are allergic to. These reaction can become more serious and in fact life threatening. You also need a prescription antihistamine
