In the overwhelming majority, the breast looks and feels entirely normal until the tumor is quite advanced. That's why breast cancer is so dangerous. Early detection is critical, mammogram is so far the best modality.

depends on what kind of breast cancer it is, you could have a dimple if so thats not good, or your breast might hurt, and when you feel it there could be a lump. My Dr told me that the thing about breast cancer is it dont hurt until its too late!! so plz check them once a month... checking my breast saved my life, early detection is our best defense against this cancer and as women we need to take a stand. And he also told me that most breast cancers are on the outside parts of the breast.. as in near the underarm side of breast.

It just depends on the type of breast cancer. There is just not one type of Breast Cancer so it would be very difficult to say.
Also, today they have many treatments and cures.

It is alway better to have your brakes fixed when there is only minor problems. But, it doesn't mean if you breaks fail you are going to die. Same in Breast cancer or any cancer.

It seems to be a little bit different for everybody because everybody's body is different. For those of us who are too young for mammograms, most found a lump that usually feels like a small pea, but may grow to feel like a couple of peas stuck together. The lump may appear to come and go with your period. Also, I felt a bit of a sharp, throbbing/searing pain, for a couple of seconds a few times, but mostly the lump was painless.

You wont be able to physically detect tumor(s) in your brest(s) untill the tumor cells have proliferated enough to be felt with your hands.

Check the area around your armpit/breast. It will feel like small pebbles.

Check around the nipples. It will feel like small grains.

Even if you find these lumps, they could be cysts or just benign over-growth of duct cells or fat. Dont panic, go to the doctors.
