I'm thinking because Saturday is the Jewish holy day, and Sunday is the Christian holy day. But Friday, for the Islamic holy day is not considered. Yes, 3 days off would be unreasonable, but why specifically Sat. and Sun.? Or maybe my suggestion about the holy days is not accurate?

In countries with a Christian majority, Sunday used to be the only day off (if you got a day off at all). Saturday was thrown in when the masses demand a five day work week, mainly because it was a Jewish holy day. Christians extended this custom to their colonies as well.

Because no one was thinking about ISLAM, or its holy days, in the Christianized West, when days off were being established.

Do Muslim countries give people the Jewish Sabath off? The Christian sabbath? why should western societies respect Islamic holy days, then??
