Why are people quick to critizise Christianity, while saying people shouldn't shove their beliefs on others?

I am sorry if I sound like I am trying to shove my beliefs on others, this is not my intention. I was just wondering what other people think about faith.

Well, in a way you've answered your own question, sweetie.
The problem we have with christianity is this "my way is the only way" attitude, and the fact that at least here in the U.S., christians try to legislate their beliefs into our secular society.

Because some people like to come across like they have good intentions but really just want to make others believe like they believe, this happens in all religions even Christianity. Also Christianity is the biggest target because its the biggest religion. After that is Islam and then Hinduism unless you count atheism as a religion in which case its third.

Scholars agree that the name "Christian" was given to the followers of Christ. True Christianty don't shove their beliefs on others. It is not the way.

Those who claim to know what life means play God. These are false prophets.

I do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. I should have a healthy skepticism.

We are commanded to test all doctrines to see whether they are of God or not.

Jesus says that His sheep will follow Him, will follow the truth John 14:6, and they will not follow a stranger.

All true Christians have heard God’s voice.

I have no doubt that there are over-zealous Christians that have all the tact of a freight train. I can certainly understand why some are turned off by that.

I also have no doubt that there are hyper-sensitive unbelievers who bristle at the mere mention of anything Christian-based.

To me, it all comes down to the security you have in your beliefs & convictions. I've dealt with people who try to force their opinions on me too. Doesn't bother me a bit...in fact, I enjoy have my beliefs challenged. Perhaps those who criticize the most/loudest are those who simply don't know how else to respond...

The problem is that some people are misusing and abusing this forum. Instead of using this forum to ask questions and learn about different religion and religious beliefs and things in general they are using this site to promote their beliefs and try to convert and deconvert people to and from religion.

Because Christians tend to shove their beliefs on others.

There are places for discussion and places you are being rude. You are welcome to try to convince me here since this is an open forum about religion. Where Christians routinely cross the line is trying to legislate their faerie tale to the rest of us in several forms. I can't understand why you think that anything not science belongs in science class. I can't understand why you feel the need to stick your sky faerie on money and in the Pledge.

As long as Christians continue to do that, we have no choice but to criticize and try to convince others that we have a point. I personally would rather just not have to think about it at all, but it is quite impossible.

i dont shove my beliefs i only speak truth christians on the other hand are very close minded. i was once like you i was christian and i thought poor me everyone persecutes my religion blah blah blah poor world i must convert everyone blah blah blah well christians shouldnt proselyte its wrong. wiccans have a strict rule against doing this thats why i switched that and they dont care about religion you are they are open minded enough to listen and accept you. Christians think they are persecuted yet every major christian holiday was stolen from pagans. And many pagans lose their children in custody battles or to state do to christian misconception that we eat our children and sacrifice cats. Good enough reason for me to critisize such ignorance.

Because Christianity and atheism are the strongest pushing forces on this site. The reason atheists aren't named is because they're usually the ones posing the question.
