Bail Enforcement Agents or Fugitive Recovery Agents are what they prefer to be called, just like a garbageman wants to be called a sanitation worker. B.E.A's are private citizens, the only difference is that the bail bondsman gives him the power to go and make the arrest. Other than that B.E.A's are just like you! Look up Taylor vs. Taintor for reference. B.E.A's save the taxpayers almost millions a year by going to find and pick up these skips. There are laws being made every year that is making the requirements harder and more demanding for someone new to get into this kind of business. This is a dangerous job if you don't know how to handle various unstable situations.

Bounty Hunters don't really have any more power than you or I -- at least according to the law. Some law enforcement people will cut them some slack if they do something illegal to catch someone. Other law enforcement people don't like bounty hunters doing their job and look for reasons to make life rough on them . I have met a couple of bounty hunters and I think they give themselves too much power -- they seem too eager to kick down a door instead of doing it the right way.

Bounty hunters do have a lot of power but are doing everything they do illegally.Police pretend that they are bounty hunters and sometimes get criminals. There are some police bounty hunters but they only shoot if they got shot first.

no. i don't believe i've ever actually heard a news story about bounty hunters. which is unfortunate because the world would be much more fun if bounty hunters were more common.

Bounty hunting is illegal in Florida. But oddly you do the same work as a licensed bail bond agent. You only have power with an arrest warrant. You won't be happy tracking a bail jumper down knowing that if you fail to find him/her you'll be stuck paying the full bond. In most situations you either find a more experienced bail agency to take the burden off your shoulders or turn to the jumper ' s collateral to pay off the bond.

No. Unfortunately society has created the necessity for this occupation. You would have to be forceful to do this job. I feel for the bounty hunters who risk thier lives going after jumpers.
