My favorite dog is a Dachshund! I have a female dapple 9 weeks old one, named Casey. I've always wanted one.

I love all big dogs also! I am known as the "Dog Listener" around my town! This one neighbor has a Cane Corso dog who really doesnt like anyone but family. But one day she had an emergency and didnt want to leave the dog alone, so she asked me to come over and would leave the dog locked in the bedroom. Well I opened the door and put a day she had up in front of the door so she could see me, she growled and I just sat there. Eventually she layed down by the gate and put her nose throught the holes. Her owner came back and was amazed!

I've also found a couple stray cats/dogs/puppies and nursed them back to health and found wonderful homes for them.

So, whats you're favorite breed and why?
Any rescue stories?

Hope you like this question!

Personally, I like "Charlies", especially Cavaliers, but then, I guess I like all dogs. I've lived, loved, and enjoyed mutts with no fancy lineage, just as much as the pure breeds. I think dogs are God's gifts to us...as someone once wrote, "After God created dogs, he sat down and smiled".

Oh my...Um...Yes, I think my favorite breed would have to be the Red Nose Pitbull. Any Pitbull really, but Red Nose Pits are beautiful. My boyfriend has a Red Nose Pit mix American Bulldog, and I have a Red Nose Pit mix American Pit. They both live at his house, the dog that stays with me is...Something...I have a question for people to answer to tell me what they think...Her name is Wednesday, though. The Pits are Brown-Eye and Judas. Judas is mine.

Um, yeah I sort of have a rescue story. It's about my old Chihuahua mix Dotschound, Bandit. Whenever he was really little he lived in this crappy house full of nasty Chihuahuas and these nasty people. They were going to just give them away or send them to a pound. Well, no one wanted any of them because of the house and no one wanted to go up there. I begged my mom to take me and I found the runt. He was completely white with pitch black eyes. Malnurished, too, because the other dogs were eating all of the food. I took him and left, and kept him up until the point where my landlord found out I had him and I had to give him to this really nice guy. I guess that's sort of a rescue story. Lol.

My favorite breed is a Border Collie. They are very active and extremely loyal.

Willis was in rescue shelter when I adopted him. He was 18 months old, lived in a shelter for 4 months going on 5. At one time he was abused. He has a front leg 3 inches shorter that the other. It was broken and wasn't set. To see him transform from a nervous dog. That would cower if you moved too quick. That had no idea of what no meant. Into a behaved happy buddy. It helped him to have a couple acres to run in. His work is to keep the yard free of birds and rabbits. His life started out hard, its real good now.

I have always been crazy about dogs-- and, I have so many different breeds that I see that are special in so many ways that it would be a catelog here if I started up ---So-- I'll stick to my personal favorites
I have Pugs (three of them) and have had Pugs for many years--they are SO special for SO many reasons that that list would wear you down as well !!
I have always had a special vibe about the Mastiff also-- I think that that could be because they are huge---and so am I---6' 7" and 260 lbs makes me a chunk of Texan ---and I've always seen these big guys as kinda my dog counterpart of sorts !!

Love em all though !! Have had many many instances where I have completely altered my schedules and for some circumstances-- my life -- to lend a hand to a dog in trouble -- and I have never regretted it in the least or on any level !!!

Have had Siberian Huskies, Samoyed's, a Brittany, a rescued Cocker, presently have a 13 year old Shi-tzu and a 17 week old English Yellow Lab. We've had great memories with all of them. If you get a Lab you'll never go to the bathroom alone again.

Hmmm..... i dont have A "Favoirit breed" because i have many, But i think my favoirit dogs would be mutts and mixes!

But truely the breed,to me, is not as important as the personality! If the dog was bad,no matter how cute,i would still not get it!(or i would and try to rehome it)!

My top three breeds -and why
(in no specific order)
1. German Shepherd- I once had a german shepherd, though he went to rainbow bridge september 27,Who was with no doubt the best dog i have ever or will ever have!So i just love the whole bred!

2.Austrailion shepherd-Because they are well tempered, and exellent at agility,Plus they are sooo cute! After doing a BUNCH of research, i found out just how great they really where!!

3. Border collie-for much of the same reasons as the Aussie! they are well tempered, and exellent at agility,Plus they are sooo cute!

Rescue stories-
Well, all stray dogs seem to find there way here, where we give them water, food and a warm place to sleep! Some move on while others-if we can not adopt will find a great home for them!
Cats-We have a house full, 5, who were all strays and needed homes, Two little tom kittens were wondering the streets at age 2 weeks old, starving and flea ridden! We adopted them, got them shots, and now they are in great condition, and one cat -mine- is sooo fat, he can barely walk ;) and when we bye a new bag of kitten food,he always tears a whole in the bottom!
Dog-There was a nighbors dog who came over to our house daily and slept in our barn, one day we found her VERY sick and had to take her to the vet, not to mention it was a holiday and about 11:30 pm, So we finaly found a vet who would see her, we spent about 300 $ and ther owners about 600$ The vet put her on HEAVY antibiotics, and said if it were not for us,then she would have died!
Bird-One day i was waiting for the bus in a thunder storm, when i young chick fell about 100 feet out of her nest, I picked her up,and ran her inside, i wraped her in a soft blanket, put her in a box, gave her some bird seed-from an outside feeder, and needless to say got in a bunch of trouble from missing the school bus! But the little bird was ok-and comes and visits us on occasion!

Well thats all i have dog listiner :) {like the name}
I hope this helped-love the Q -star from me too!
~! Lover of an Aussie.border collie mix!

I have two favorite dogs. Jack Russell Terriers and Pit Bulls.I like Jack Russell Terrier because they love to play and are fearless. I have one and his name is Bobby and ITS ALWAYS A PARTY WITH HIM!!!!!!!!He bounces off walls and once every twenty minutes he dashes around the house and does countless laps and never loses energy. He also enjoys barking at my cellphone charger! I also like Pittbulls because they are brave and good dogs for the family. They also have a lot of fight in them(I dont mean by dogfights but by inner strength). I have heard countless stories about rescued abused pitbulls and how they just fight to stay alive. There was a pitbull who was nearly burnt to death and when he was rescued he kept wagging his tail until he died, even through the immense pain. He was also trying very hard to stay alive. They are very loyal. My neighbor has a pitbull and no matter how much Bobby would pest at him and jump on him and play fight with him, he would never even lunge at him unlike other dogs. Thats why Jack Russell Terriers and Pittbulls are my favorite breeds.

I'm a doxie lover myself...I have 2 red ones and had a red one while growing up...I think that what you've done re: rescuing animals is wonderful...there needs to be more people like you out there.

Have never directly rescued a dog/cat or any other animal myself but every year, my husband and I donate to the no kill animal shelter that we like. Part of the reason we like to donate to animal shelters is this...yes, I know that there are alot of needy people out there but there are also alot of needy animals that seem to be forgotten about. My husband is in the IT field and last year, we revamped all of their computer systems - we still get mail and keep in touch with them and their organization has vastly improved. It feels nice that we made that big of a difference in their organization. We drop by when we can to go visit the animals. I think that it's rubbing off on our daughter...she loves animals...

I like the papillon. They're so pretty, and Is'pose I'm fairly shallow. A dog is a dog, though. They can all be awesome.

As for rescues, we have stray cats find us, and we once had an armadillo baby. Poor thing died, though.

i like yorkies because i have allergies i can't have a lot of dog breeds and no cats in my bed room. i have a cat though but he has to sleep by himself in the living room and that makes me sad....i have tryed all the allergy meds that my doc can put me on but none have worked (mostly because i had to stop taking them because of allergic reactions) so when i wanted a dog i looked for a low shedding dog and a small one cause my daughter is intimidated when a dog can look her in the face....i have 27 pages i have collected on Yorkie info that is how much i want one and am looking for breeders now that i like to i can get one in 10-11 months or so if they have puppies available
