Those are chair lifts. They take you from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill. If you ski and your going on one, make sure you keep your tips up, and hold your poles in one hand, and look back at the chair when your about to get on it, and make sure to hold on tight.

Chairlifts. They transport skiers and snowboarders to the top of the hill.
There are other methods ski areas use as well. Gondolas hold about 8-10 people at a time, and have seats inside of them.
Trams fit about 100-200 people sardine style inside. There are no seats. You stand packed in tightly holding your skis.

It's simply just called a ski lift. And the chairs are hung from cables. :)

they are called ski lifts. They take you to the top of a peak so you can ski back down again without hiking back up. there are also things like that that hold several people called gondolas
