Perhaps because it exposes all those who like to wield power within heirarchies as obsolete. Once you realize he knows nothing more than you do, the preacher may have to get a real job.
The only thing that should be happening at churches is DEBATE.

Debate and change has happened. Listen to the synagogue "choir" of scholars debating the passages. And change... Reformed religion, new ideas, new ways of thinking. Your beliefs of nothing is a reformed branch away from religion.

thing: I was going to reply to your accusation but had a change of heart. I realize, that you have come from a religious background steeped in legalism and strict discipline from either, the church pastor, strict parents or both. You made reference to the church service being one of "DEBATE", opposed to, obviously, to the typical service. Incidentally, we do have our meeting where "debate" is conducted and ideas and suggestions are cultivated. Our church pastor has a region to tend to of 1800 miles West, 500 miles East, South 100 miles with 150 miles to the North. His typical work day is approximately 14 hours per day and on-"call" after hours. His wife works outside the home and he manages over 30 churches in the region, with help from local area elders. He does not "wield" power, as you dogmatically state. By the way; if you ever find the perfect church, you better stay away from it - because you might ruin it !!! I know of a place that is hiring, currently . You can get a real job and a reality check to boot !!!

When Jesus was on the earth the Disciples didn't have a clear understanding of his teachings at times and Jesus would have to correct them. When we read something in the Bible that goes contrary to what we have been teaching or doing we should change and listen to God's word the Bible. We need to be humble and we don't understand everything in the scriptures.
Paul said do not go beyond the things that are written. When we do, that's where we get into trouble, in a gray area. We need to listen to Jehovah and his Son Jesus and make adjustments. We are imperfect and we need to be obedient to the Word.

Religion has been the same for a very long time. It's probably the only thing that truly is constant in some people's lives, and when you have the comfort of knowing that, you feel threatened by the fact the only constant in your life could have been wrong. People are afraid to admit faults, weather it be about themselves or something in their lives. Pride is also a huge issue. People have a ," My religion is always correct" attitude about it.

Debate is ok because I do not believe every spirit but I test the spirits to see whether they are from God. You should have a healthy skepticism.

Anyway, We are commanded to test all doctrines to see whether they are of God or not.

Here," Beloved, believe not every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God or not."John 4:1

It is written, "Be not carried about with various and strange doctrines." Hebrews 13:9

There are many "apologetic" organizations today that expose false teachers while they, themselves are false teachers.

Satan is the master of counterfeiters. His counterfeit is so perfect that only a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit can separate it from the truth.

False Church who developed many doctrines which cannot be remotely proven from the Bible. For example, the Assumption of Mary.

They accept the teachings of men rather than the teachings of the Bible

Because if a god has been "sold" as all knowing and all powerful, there is no room for error. How can a perfect being make a mistake?

Admit you're wrong and people know your religion is full of crap. Then the $ and power dries up.

Jehovah's Witnesses have realized they were wrong at times and they have adjusted their teachings in harmony with the truth, but everyone just criticizes them for that also. Makes you feel sort of like Jesus was right when he said that wisdom is proved righteous by it's works. (Matthew 11:18,19)

It is not the religion who is affraid, but its people. religion has no ego. and so is their prophet or their messiahs.

considering this, what will happen when Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, Buddha, and other prophets sit in one table and discussing a topic relating to God. I'm pretty sure they will go in silence. no debate ... at all.

but what will happen if they discuss a matter about daily life. they will speak according to what they see and fell in their surrounding. we will see a lot of difference... pretty sure.

that's why the people in religion are so afraid to admit.... the culture are changing. and they don't understand religion in the process. they just swallowed without chewing it from their teacher from generation to generation. and i think it is not wise ... from my point of view.

but it is not an easy and simple matter changing a tradition.

Why do you listen to the enemy, who has obviously filled your heart with hate for those who seek to live a righteous life?I have read the answers to the questions you have asked, and there is no basis for your remarks.I fear you may be close to being turned over to your sin.

I believe that it is afraid to admit when it is wrong is because when you make that first admission, there is the concern that you will be facing a slippery slope that the whole thing will just crash around them. Just so many factors that can be construed as incorrect in religions.
