I really want to go but they won't even listen to me. I want the education and experience. How can I possibly convince them to listen to me, and in time send me. Money isn't the problem. They just don't want me to be gone all of the time.

Tell them to take a cold, hard look around them at the public schools of today, and even the private non-boarding schools.

Also, be prepared to tell them what a great professional career field you want to enter (Doctor/Lawyer/Stock Broker) and tell them about how kids from good boarding schools end up being much better prepared for college and the life beyond.

Go to your school counselor and ask for recommendations of top notch boarding schools.

Call or write those schools and request that they mail you information on their program.

If you sound like a little girl on the phone, have a friend with a more mature voice make the call for you, and tell them you are the mother of a girl who is interested in boarding school.

Next time you talk to your parents about it, make sure you have all the ammunition you need to make your case.

Good Luck!

I attended boarding school and I've had a great time, made a lot of friends.Maybe if you showed them you are very responsible at home, they'll trust you to go to boarding school, especially if it's a good one and you can get scholarship to attend it. I hope this helps you a little bit and good luck :-)

I don't blame them. I wouldn't want my kids to be gone before college. You will get the education & experiences in college- for now- enjoy your time living with your parents.

You may not be able to convince them. They love you and don't want to send you away. But in a few years, you'll get to choose which college to go to, and then you'll get the education and experience you want. Good luck!
