You need to talk to your doctor. Migraine medications are not one size fits all (and the over the counter stuff is pretty much useless).

If your symptoms are infrequent, they'll most likely give you an acute therapy triptan like Zomig, Imitrex, Relpax, etc.

If you're having more frequent attacks, they may put you on any number of medications that have been shown to provide preventative relief when taken on a daily basis, such as Beta Blockers, Anti-epilepsy drugs, Calcium Channel Blockers, or even Anti-depressants.

The only way to know what's the best medication for you is to see your general practitioner and most likely you'll need a neurology consult as well.
I've been working with my GP and Neurologist for about 9 years now and tried a few different drugs (and even built up a resistance to one and had to switch) before finding the right treatment. Good luck!

The best over the counter med. is Excedrin. It is similar in strength to prescription migraine medicine.

I went to the doctor though and they gave me some prescription meds. for migraine. It works so well! Knocks it out of there in half an hour or less. It makes my head feel a little fuzzy but I don't mind and that's the only side effect I've experienced. It's called Amidrine.

Talk to your physician. If you are a constant sufferer of migraines, you may wish to talk about getting a prescription for imintrex, either in pill form or for rapid relief, the imitrex injections. You can do them yourself. It's an intramuscular injection, with a preloaded niddle that you can get through prescritioin that you can inject in your thigh. It's a almost instant relief. Good Luck.

Imitrex works pretty well for me. Sometimes, if you catch it early, non-drowsy Sinutab (or its generic equivalent) will do the job.
