Remember the Queen of Sheba and the travels of Mark in the first century--when few in Europe had ever heard of a personna named Jesus.

Some of the answers are interesting in that they don't even realize there was no Roman Catholic Church when both of the aboved named churchs were already active. Righteous indignation does not overcome ignorance.

The Coptic church of Egypt has no connection to the Roman Catholic Church.

My querey is being made quite pointedly by many of the answers.

Oh come on. As I've demonstrated here, most Protestants here seem to not even realize their sacred books are translated from editions created by Catholic people, and are shockingly ignorant about how their churches broke from the churches that came before them, and you expect them to know about churches from whole other parts of the world!

Heh. I suspect many Protestants here don't even know that their churches are Protestant!

I once saw a person say she wasn't a Protestant, she was a Lutheran, for crying out loud!

What is it that you wonder? I believe the Coptic Church is under the Pope so it is in Communion with the Catholic Church. I do not know about the Ethiopian Orthodox though.

Forget? Please, one of the Ethiopian churchs might actually have the ark in it. I highly doubt it, but its the largest possibility, as the Queen of Sheba's son might actually have taken it back to Ethiopa with him after visiting his dad in Israel. A couple of Ethiopian churches claim to be the one he brought the ark to, and I don't know if its true or not, but I do think these people really believe it, and will kill to protect it. It's a great story anyway. I'm presbyterian, by the way, I think that falls under your protestant category, so evidently, not all of us have forgotten.

How do you figure Protestants "forgot" about them? They exist don't they? I was raised Lutheran (but am no longer)and there was no reason for us to "forget" any of the founding churches. They contributed to the history of Christianity. Maybe you ought to be more concise in your criticism.

Most western Protestants seem unaware of any Orthodox church at all -- they only know about catholics and protestants.
