It sounds likely that you experienced a panic attack. The main symptom of a panic attack is sudden and intense fear. When I have panic attacks, the first thing I notice is either my heart pounding and what feels like an irregular heartbeat or depersonalization, which is a feeling of being pulled outside of your body. Everything seems less real. You don't have to have all the symptoms to have a panic attack though, because different people experience it differently.
You should go to a doctor and get a checkup, if only to put your mind at ease that there's nothing seriously wrong with you.
And no, you can't die from a panic attack, but it definitely feels like it. If you have another one, just try to remind yourself "This is only a panic attack, and I'll be okay soon". The more negatively you start thinking that you're dying or you're going crazy, the more you panic and the more intense it is.
If this becomes a persistent problem, you may want to talk to a doctor about either antidepressants or sedatives, such as Klonopin or Xanax. With antidepressants, you'd have to take them continually, and if you only have a panic attack every now and then, it wouldn't be a great solution to the problem. In that case, taking a sedative when you first start feeling the symptoms of the panic attack would be best.
The main thing though is trying to relax. Meditation worked pretty well with me. Hope I could help.

Yes, that sounds like a type of panic attack. You might be low in calcium and magnesium if your heart is skipping beats. These two minerals together 1 part calcium :2 parts Magnesium can help normalize rapid heart beats. You sound very young. This is hard to do, but try now, while you are young to break the worry habit. It's just a very bad bad habit. It will drain all of your hopes and joys in the long run. Lots of books about how to stop worrying (Norman Vincent Peale). Caffeine in softdrinks can cause irregular heart beats. Too much sugar can deplete your calcium reserves. No you will not die of panic attacks, but you will wear yourself out. Eat wholesome foods. Earlier Answer from Yahoo http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/indexqid=20061214055009AAN5Si2

No you cannot die from a panic attack. Normally what occurs during a panic attack is tingling in your toes and fingers (due to hyperventilating) racing heart, sweating, dizzy, nauseated. The best thing to do is try and get your breathing under control by thinking relaxing thoughts or repeating something over and over again in your head..like the A,B,C,s or try to read something. Anything that will help you relax. Find out what triggers the attacks. If you continue to have panic attacks I would contact my physician for the best treatment. Stress does bring on a lot of anixety issues.

As almost everyone else said you will not die from panic attacks although it's really scary and it feels like you might.
The question you have to ask yourself is why you are having them. Is it really just because of your grades or is there something else going on that's causing the panic attacks? You really need to consider going to the doctor and having yourself checked out.
Good luck and try not to stress out so much about your grades. Just do your best. :)

It sounds as though you are having the beginning stages of anxiety attacks. I have had them ever since I was a young teen and am now 43. I certainly do not want to scare you in any way, but yes, people have died from anxiety/panic attacks. If you have them over a period of time and do not get the right medication to treat them it could turn into having a seizure, thus death could happen. You need to keep your hands busy, busy, busy and your mind focused on breathing deep breaths or anything...such as going outside and listening to the birds, Sing to and talk to them if you have to! Anything to get you through it until you have calmed and it has passed. In the mean-time please do see a doctor who knows about anxiety/panic disorders. You do have to watch who you go to for medical treatment, as all physicians do not specialize in this area and may put you on some of the newer antidepressants. You may only need a mild nerve relaxing medication. The best known medications for this is; xanax, valium, ativan, klonipan. They come in generic names also. And (if) you are placed on one of these particular medications there is a high risk of dependency. So do be very careful. Like I said, I, myself am a medical doctor who specializes in the area of anxiety/panic attacks because of the fact of myself having this condition for many years.
Please seek medial help.

yes it does sound like a panik attack and no you don't die. But it is a good idea to close to the ground or laying down incase you do pass out so you don't hit your head when you go down.
I woke up laying half way down a flight of steps one time.
Some things that may help when it happens is to count backwards from 60-1, get fresh air , have a perfume or smell that you can carry with you that you can smell. Try to consintrate on something else besides the panik attack

sounds like a form of panic attack to me! you cant die from a panic attack because even if you have extreme difficulty breathing during one you would faint before anything bad happened and then your body would calm itself down. you have identified a possible area of anxiety for yourself, learn to relax, do some breathing and physical exercise and take time out from your studies. maybe talking to the school counsellor about your concerns and indeed your symptons if you feel comfortable would help you sort of the issues you are having and reduce your anxiety. good luck

Yes this was a panic attack. I have had one before and that was exactually how I felt. Try to relax. The more you stress about a situation the worse it can get. Grades are imortant but this is going to far. You should consult with a doctor they are always ready to listen.

Yeah but they don't last long either right? Your palms might sweat you feel like you are doing to die and it all happens within a few seconds. Then its gone as fast as it came. Or it could be just what we used to call a goodl ole fashion case of the nervous. You will be fine I have been living with them since 1983, you will get married have kids and live life to the fullest despite them.
