On my way home today, there were several teenage boys at the corner, they had 2 dogs: one pit bull and what looked like a pit mix. Anyway, two of the guys were hitting the dogs and egging them on to fight. Well, being the person i am, i pulled over, got out of the car with cell phone in hand and asked them why were they doing that to the dogs, one of them called me a b@*!?# and i lost my mind.! I cussed them out and called the police. I understand that technically it was none of my business but morally i knew it was wrong. So, can i plz get some feedback, because it's still bugging me. Thanks to all!

The reason I wanted to know if anyone thought I was wrong was because a couple of my so called "friends" said that I should've minded mine own business and that things could've gotten out of control...not that I was'nt prepared for something but that's another story:)

Of course you were not wrong.

Not only what they were doing was morally wrong and cruel, but also illegal!

You did the right thing.

Of course not! You have to go with what you believe and that was wrong. As well as against the law. You were right to have pulled over and adressed the issue so stop the fight before one of the dogs or the tennagers themselves were hurt. It is good you called the police, it was the smart thing to do and ended the fight. The only thing that worries me though is that you could have gotten hurt. By approaching them you had the potential to get hurt by the dogs or by the stupid kids trying to prove themselves, so kudos! I would have done the same. Except I would have kicked some *** if I saw that!

It is both cruel and illegal to encourage dogs to fight for sport. So yes, what they were doing was wrong. But it is putting yourself at potential risk to stop and talk to them. If they're ignorant enough to encourage dogs to fight, then they could be carrying knives or other weapons as well. It might have been better to just drive past and park your car somewhere out of their sight so that you can call the police on your cell phone.

See, it's @$$holes like them that give my favorite breed of dog bad reputation. My boyfriend and I own two Red Nose Pits. Well, Brown-Eye is a Red Nose Pit mix American Bulldog, and Judas is a Red Nose Pit mix American Pit.

Thank you for stopping those jerks. That pees me off so badly. I know my dogs can tear anything up in a snap, but I wouldn't push them into fighting...God, I hate human beings. This is why I don't get along with people. >.<;;

It's illegal to force animals to fight in most states. These are very serious charges. But also what you did was quite unsafe. Trained attack dogs can do a lot of damage to you espeically if their owners are upset.

I am interested to know, however, what gave you the idea that you were wrong? Like what about what you did made you think you were wrong and made you want feedback?

you did the right thing.. in hindsight, you could have been hurt yourself by one of the perpetators. but you are an animal lover like myself and my coworkers. we would put our own lives on the line for an animal in trouble. and we all have done so.
we look back, and think of how we all could have been injured ourselves, but we would have still done it.
one time a dog escaped from our facility. (he was an escape artist) he ran out and towards the street , crossed it, then headed for a major interstate. he made it through the east bound lanes and tried to jump the wall to the westbound lanes but missed. 5 of us ran out onto the interstate and stopped traffic to rescue this dog. the dog did get hit, but made a complete recovery. but any one of us could have been killed.
it IS your business! That's how we stop these a-wipes from fighting and abusing these animals. I got your back!!! I'd do it in a second. And i know a WHOLE lot of people that would do the same!!
KUDO'S for YOU!!!!!

You weren't wrong but took a huge risk in being harmed yourself. Next time you might want to stay in your car and just call the police and animal control. I keep both of their numbers on my cell phone speed dial for just such emergencies.

I think it's great that you took a stand to protect those dogs. Good for you.

you were right to stop the dog fight they should have known to not do that. but it was also wrong to cuss them out too. and most people know that it is illegal and can get arrested for doing so it was a very smart thing to call police too.

You did the right thing, fighting animals for sport is firstly illegal, and also dogs being bitten by other dogs gives them a complex where they will naturally want to attack dogs, even if not provoked. It's not fair to take friendly dogs and turn them into killers for fun. Good job.

You were very brave to do what you did. Next if there is a next time don't get out of your car. Just call the police and stay in your car to aid them. You could really have been hurt yourself.
I applaud your being a very concerned lady and a real dog lover.

Bravo to you!!!!!!!

Absolutly. Dog fights can serioiusly harm dogs and people. In most states dog fighting is illegal, with major fines and up to 3 years in prison. you were absolutly correct and you probably saved the teenagers butts as well as the dogs
