I think it just shows more proof that religion is a scam to make people scared of life and death.

A few of the reasons why it seems like there are more Catholic scandals are:
+ There are many more Catholics than Agnostics and Atheists
+ Media bias. When Agnostics and Atheists are involved in scandals the media does not mention their religious faith (or lack there of) but always mention a Catholic's religious faith. When was the last time the news mentioned an Agnostic congressman?
+ Catholics are held to a high standard (and should be) so when they fall they seem to fall farther. Most people don't know to what standard an Atheist should be held.
+ People try to prove guilt by association with Catholics. Look at what this priest did, maybe other priests are just as bad. Agnostics and Atheists have no associations through which guilt can be spread.
Catholics and other Christians live in the assurance of heaven and are not afraid of life or death.

Well I'm an atheist, but I don't think it's a fair comparison. Catholicism has strict rules which can be broken, resulting in a scandal. Atheism has no such rules. For an atheist to be involved in a scandal they would basically have to break the law, whereas a Catholic need only break their religious doctrine.

It's not that scandal does not happen with agnostics and atheists, it's just that Catholic priests are higher profile to target for public attention.

Well on one hand, there are a LOT more Catholics, but I am glad you pointed this out. We atheists and agnostics need to get it together and try a little harder! Come on, guys! We can't let those papists kick our butts on this. I will do my best to do something scandalous today!

It only seems that way.
When an atheist or an agnostic does something wrong, it doesn't necessarily make the evening news.
When a Catholic messes up, everybody takes notice.

It´s because people just want to get money and the Catholic Church is the largest church and so it can be sued for $ millions
When did you see anybody suing an atheist organization? Never because atheism is not an organization.
Similarly, even though protestant churches have a similar or worse case than the Catholic Church ( see

Could be that there are over a billion Catholics or that when a Priest is involved it is suddenly 'news'

Umm, duh, because numerically there are vastly MORE Catholics than there are agnostics and atheists in the world. You also hear about religious scandal more than other kinds of scandal because it's more inflammatory, hence it sells more newspapers.

I fear you are right, but they would rightly point out that there are rather more of them to cause a scandal.
I bet we're proportionately less scandalous, though...
