Could someone identify and explain a practical medical example of theory synthesis?

Probably combination drug-testing is a good example. Like if you theorize that combining X + Y drugs will lower blood pressure and reduce mortality more effectively than combination X + Z drugs. This is a testable, reproducible/verifiable theory.
