I suppose I should add that I am a pagan for those who don't know me, and I'm not here to convert you.

Thanks Kevin. I appreciate what you wrote here. That's probably the nicest christian response I've seen yet (next to Myaloo).

Not only no, but HEL NO!!! There is not one right way for everybody. Half my life was spent in Christianity. Now, I am a practicing and a happy Heathen (see my 360 page).

What people need to do is to step back, take a look at the plethora of religious expressions, even those that existed PRIOR to Christianity. Believe it or not, religious thought DID INDEED exist even prior to Judaism, which pre-existed Christianity. Even Hinduism is either older than Judaism.

Many people think that the bedrock of religious thought originated in Egypt. EVERY culture has a religious expression to explain or control itself.

The ONLY way? That's the arrogance that annoys us so much.

There are endless ways the existence of a god might be demonstrated. Just the tiniest bit of evidence, just the teensy-weensiest bit of evidence that could be explained by NO other means than a supernatural creator - we'll I'd believe it. But that's the point. There is NOTHING. Not a grain. Against which there are mountains of evidence for NO creator. And in that mix, the divinity of Jesus doesn't stand a chance.

Sorry.

I'm a follower of Christ, so I hope that you don't mind me answering. When I talk to someone about Christ, I'm not trying to think of the "one thing" that could change there mind or anything like that. All I'm telling them is what I believe and what Christ has done for me. I know that I'm not capable of "saving" anyone, nor am I capable of "saving" myself. Jesus is the one that I call and profess to be my Savior. I am not deserving of it anymore than anyone else (I don't believe anyone is deserving of it and thus why it was a pure act of love on the part of God and his son). So basically, I try to convey to someone that I believe there is a God that loves them more than they could imagine and was willing to give His son to die for them (and his son willingly did so). He loves us enough that he allows us to have the choice if we want that salvation by confessing that we have done wrongs (sin) and asking Jesus to be our Savior (a sacrifice and payment for our sins). As a follower of Christ, we are supposed to show that same love that was exhibited to us (unfortunately, we are still human and don't always do a good job of it; plus the world also sometimes sees those that aren't true followers proclaiming His name but then doing things that are totally against his teachings). So to make a long response short, we as followers don't believe because of physical public proof. It is often personal proof that varies for everyone and then our own faith. Faith is key for us. I will never get to see an atom, but I have faith that it exist. It is sort of like that but to a larger scale and proved to each of us in our own personal experiences. I know you were speaking to non-christians, but I just felt that I should share. Hopefully, this may help someone that has possibly been offended by a supposed-christian (there are lots out there that have been turned off from Christianity due to that). I apologize if anyone here has had that happen to them. Take care everyone.

no - and just to be clear, it's not god that i have a problem with, it's jesus and i will not be convinced that any one faith is the only way to live a moral life, or have access to an afterlife, if one exists.

spirituality is too personal and humans are too unique for there to be only one possible way of understanding god. there is a teaching in the jewish faith that one does not need to believe in god at all in order to have a meaning filled life. there is also a teaching that all righteous peoples have a place in the kingdom of heaven.

Most people answering have been atheists. I'm a theist, but a non-Christian one.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING a Christian could ever say that can get me to become a Christian again. I would have to completely RETARD myself to do that.

1) I believe in Muhammad and the Holy Qur'an.
2) I believe in El Bab and the Bayan.
3) I believe in Baha'u'llah and all of his scriptures (volumes and volumes)

In order to retard myself back to Christianity, I would have to DENY these three Messengers of God and their Holy Books. Three! THREE!! I know way too much, there is NO WAY I could ever deny all of this and crawl backward into Christianity. No way.

No, there isn't. Everyone assumes that it's a good thing to go to Heaven. Even if God did exist, if he's anything like the god depicted in the Bible, I don't want to go.

Only if you stopped trying to convert everyone. Then I'd say, "There is a God."

God could indeed show up in person to me. and i still would not worship him.

my gods have spoken to me and i know my heart. my soul belongs to the Celtic Gods. and nothing will change that.

Yes, they could come up with some acceptable, unambigous evidence.

None ever have.
