Mohawk uses the the smartstrand technology in some of their carpet styles. Dalton, Georgia USA is where the world's carpet is made. There are two main brand's Shaw and Mohawk. Smartstrand technology is very interesting. It is technically classified as a polyester fiber. It is a synthetic, heat set, strong fiber. Go to Mohawk's website for specific information.
They have a video regarding the stain protection feature in the fiber.
Good Luck,

Jen

ME ME MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I CAN - you need POLYPROPOLENE - they are wool carpets covered in a plastic coating (recycled plastic bottles to be precise) and are guaranteed to guard against even bleach cleaning - pens, oil and all sorts - they come with a 10 year guarantee - most carpet stores stock these polyprop carpets - they dont feel or look any different to a 80-20 mix wool carpet except all they do is protect against stains - we had a wool carpet which showed every stain going - and it wasa white carpet!!!!!! we've just replaced it with a polyprop version in a similar colour which has withstood so far in the last 8 weeks - cat sick baby sick coke and coffee -

there are many manufacturers of this carpet - some more expensive than others due to their marketing but they are generally all the same - maybe different pile or pile style but off the role is good value for money as well
