I went to get my hair colored today, and my operator whom I've known for approximately 24-27 yrs. did a BEAUTIFUL job.something happened that has never happened in the whole time (since 1999) that I've had her help me color my hair. When I got home, there was a small amount of dye down the front of my blouse and a medium amount down the left side. The blouse is cotton / polyester. I left a message for my operator who suggested Spray -N- Wash OR permanent solution from a box kit ( Toni, Lilt, etc.). Before I try the Shout that we normally use to try to remove the stain ( I don't want to spend money on a box perm just for the solution--but I listened with ears to my beautician's advice), I wondered if any other beauticians or hair color "guru's" could offer any solution(s), pardon the pun, to my problem? SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE. Thanks!

You can use a concentrated solution of regular detergent first or stain remover - try soaking the affected area overnight. If that doesn't work, try soaking the stained area in Rit Color remover. If the blouse is white, this may work. If it isn't then it's going to be really hard to get the stain out w/o removing the color from the shirt itself. There are also some hair dye removers in the drugstore hair color aisle that might work on fabric. I've never tried it myself, but it stands to reason that it should be worth a try.

Whatever you do - DO NOT PUT THE SHIRT IN THE DRYER until you think you've got as much of the stain out as you can manage! The heat will set the stain and then it will never come out.

Dye is just *really* hard to remove because it's meant to be permanent. Good luck!

If the blouse is white, then use Mr. Clean spot cleaner. Or use straight bleach on a Q Tip and put in on the stain. Let it sit for at least one hour and wash in washing machine with laundry detergent. If it is not white, then you are basically out of luck. You could try Spray and Wash. Give it a try, what can you lose. You could mention it to the hair salon owner and they may give you a check for the price of the blouse.

follow your cosmetologist's suggestions. if you use some thing else and proceed to dry your blouse in the dryer, the stain will set and you'll probably have to toss the blouse. Using hair dye to get the stain out is in my opinion the best solution!

I at times dye my own hair and sometime get it on clothing.

Best trick for getting out tough stains, squirt hair spray on the stay and rub under warm water, repeat until color is lightened. Then use your usual shout, before throwing in the wash.

If the solution has peroxide in it, it will remove the dye in your garment. No matter what you do. Find out from your hairdresser what she used, take it to a reputable dry cleaner and let them tell you. They should know . Worked at both, hairdresser and dry cleaning. "Reputable" is the key word. Good luck.

Either use hairspray like the first answer. Or use oxyclean, but make sure stain doesn't sit for days before cleaning, it may be to late. If ya don't have any oxy, then hairspray is the best answer.
